Santry Demesne

As much as I've enjoyed my few days on the treadmill this week, the thoughts of doing my scheduled 18 miles on it tomorrow does not exactly fill me with joy. Roads where I am are unsuitable for running at the moment, so I need to travel somewhere to get it done.

Want to pick somewhere as close as possible to home, and was thinking a few laps of Santry Demesne. Malahide Castle is another option for me, but I'm less familiar with that park. Would rather not have to travel all the way in to Phoenix Park.

Has anyone run in Santry Demesne in past few days? What are the conditions like?

Indeed if anyone fancies joining me, let me know. Will probably be going there around 11.30ish, and running at 7:20-7:30/mile pace.

The longest lap in Santry Demense takes 12 minutes done easy. 18 miles in there is alot of laps.

Best route I heard of for this weather is around the dunes on bull island. Long and ice free I'm told.

Is a lap of Santry Demense not around 2-2.5 miles if you stick close to the edge on the way round, and include the loop under the trees up by the Crown Plaza hotel?

gormanstown beach i think would be your best option and no worries about any ice at all. nice and long. would park the car on the main road though.

would meet you peckham but im only getting back from a virus so 7.20 p/mile might be pushing it tomorrow but would be happy to do 8 or so miles with you at that pace the following weekend.

Portmarnock beach will be perfect that time tomorrow , i'll be there on sunday I think. You have the guts of a 7 mile runs down and back so not too bad for you . Will run there myself there on sunday.

Peckham, I live in beside Santry Demesne but would never really consider running there cos it's so short. The footpath around Santry Avenue and through the Estate is 2 miles exactly, so I imagine the lap of SD would be closer to 1.5miles at the most.

I took the M50 to Phoenix Park this afternoon for a 16miler and couldn't recommend it enough. No cars on the South side of the Park so you get to run in peace in the middle of the snow covered road. No ice really today either. Scenery was magic!

Drop me a PM too lads

Peckham, A St. Anne's Park / Bull Island combo might be the best, something like this. The Park loop is 4.5m. Drop me a line if you want to come down this far, I'd like to do ~10m
