So were you looking for a forum of some sort, linked to it by a friend or just found it by chance?

I myself found this place from a friend who told me there was a brilliant photoshop tennis thread which now has been running for over two years!

Friend showed me a few pics from tattoos and piercings, I think. Had a bit of a look around the rest of the forums and a few weeks later signed up so I could post on a couple of threads. Didnt post much for a few months, until around the time I started 6th year. Dont think I posted at all in the leaving cert forum though..

Studying for blackhalls and came across the legal discussion forum, more than likely wouldnt have passed them otherwise as its where i got all my material, college notes had rather large gaps

Ha Ha - yeah it was pretty much all good. We were new and people were asking had anyone heard about us / could we be trusted etc. We've been mentioned quite a bit around the boards since, I'd say 99% positive - can't please everyone :D

Someone on a parenting forum was moaning about it, saying not to go on boards and everyone was rude and obnoxious and didn't take themselves or anyone else seriously enough - I thought it sounding like the place for me, popped over to see what all the fuss what about & haven't been back to the other one. :D

I first heard about Boards.ie in June last year. It was mentioned in the Irish Independent in reports about the concert at Slane Castle, the one headlined by Oasis. So now Boards.ie has one more loyal member thanks to the Indo!

It was near Leaving Cert time and I was doing frantic googling for help, and lo and behold I found Boards. It all went downhill from there :D

I was on alexa.com one day and I saw boards.ie on a list and I just joined it.
However I did go on boards as a guest sometimes because I search things on wikipedia about Ireland or Tv3 or rte or whatnot and there would be a boards link and I would go to it.

Those Airsofters brought me here. Some insane Admin gave Airsofters their own forum, and I signed up to ask a question there. 3200+ posts later and I'm still here.

    http://www.google.ie/

    search : crappy forum site

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,699 ✭✭✭Brian

I'm not entirely sure. For several years I lived here convinced that Irish people didn't know how to use the Internet. I guess the unified nature of boards.ie means that there aren't that many outlying Irish fora since most interests are suitably accounted for here. So if you don't come across boards, you don't come across too many Irish people. Plus, it's not like I was searchng for "Irish forum" or anything.

Looking for English notes for the 2005 Junior Cert. Specifically made my account to tell the OP how much of a lifesaver that person was at the time. Ended up with an A (mainly because of that poster) but completely forgot their username and haven't heard from him/her since.

    http://www.google.ie/

    search : crappy forum site

Boards.ie doesn't come anywhere for that search.

I got this as first result:

Best mate recommended it back in 2002 so I registered but it didn't hold any appeal to me until 2006 when I finished college and realised that it was a way to pass time in a mundane working post-education existence.

I discovered it twice actually. A friend told me about the freebie thread and I signed up and read it, then stopped logging on. Then a few months later I was looking for retro games and came across the Arcade and Retro forum, remembered I had an account and decided to stick around from there :) Glad I did aswell.
