Hi, I'm flying to Melbourne in two months and I'd like to get there on an A380. I know Singapore are using them, but what other airlines have them in service on routes to Australia? Or is there a site I can check this out on?

    Thanks.

Qantas,Emirates and Air France are using them as well, not too sure if they're on their routes to Oz though.

Singapore Airlines operate the A380 Flying from Heatrow to singapore,
Qantas fly from Heatrow to Sidney with a stop in singapore.

And singapore airlines recently launched A380 flights form Singapore to Melbourne

So Singapore is my strongest chance of being on an A380 for both legs. Delighted, it's with them I'm finding some of the best prices too. In a strange way looking forward to experiencing the flights more than getting to Melbourne!

    Cheers everyone.

Singapore is also in iteself one of the most amazing airports I've ever seen.

I didnt have time to do the bus tour of the city, but that looked excellent as well.

I don't think they use just the A380 so you might want to check. I know Emirates were charging a premium to fly on their's. All my colleagues who flew to Singapore in the past year have been on the A380 though.

My sister flew to Singapore on a 777, flew back to LHR on A380....So it's not all A380s!

AFAIK when booking the flight they tell you the aircraft you will be on

Currently there are 2 Singapore A380 flights a day LHR to SIN.

The first A380 SQ317 in the morning departs LHR at 10:55 - Arriving SIN 0735. Now you have SQ217 a B777-300 to MEL departing at 0955. If you want to continue to MEL on a A380 you will have to wait 12 hours plus until SQ227 which leaves SIN at 2100.

The easier option if you do not want to spend time in SIN is the other A380 which does the SQ321 departing LHR at 2205 arriving SIN at 1845 then getting on SQ227 at 2100 an A380 to MEL

Ok circumstances have changed a bit now so I'm looking at getting an A340 with Etihad through Abu Dhabi. The A340 is a relatively new model isn't it? Anyone know how it's rated? (Legroom/ entertainment being the two important things to me)

    Cheers

Around since the 90s but a nice airplane to be in. To be honest doesnt feel much different to any other wide-body jet like a 767 or A330 just happens to have more seats and two extra engines. I'd rate the Cathay Pacfic one I was on better then a 747 but perhaps it was just down to the nice interior.

Not many people fly the A340 because the four engines means higher running costs. I know plenty of people who have flown on the Virgin ones and they have thought them great, but again that might have more to do with Virgin Premium Economy than the plane itself.

Looks like it'll do for me anyway!

Well it may not be the biggest but the A340-600 is the longest :) Have a look at seat guru to find the best seats.

Yep, at Heathrow back in the summer. Huge yoke, its a wonder how it stays in the air.
