Oversized Baggage/Miscanellous Item/Cargo?

    Hi there everyone,

I have a question which might not be easy to answer. I've done research the last couple of hours but can't really find the relevant information myself.

Fact is, I'd like to carry a rather large guinea pig cage with Aer Lingus. Now I don't know under what restriction I can carry it. Cargo seems to be quite expensive and only for bigger and more items than just one single cage. Now looking on the Aer Lingus website it is talking about carriage of miscanellous items and it says the following:

    Large Gift Wrapped Items

Large Gift Wrapped Gifts can be carried when travelling with Aer Lingus, these packages could be subject to a security check. The normal checked/cabin baggage rules apply. There is no requirement to advise Aer Lingus before hand that you are carrying these items. It is the passenger's responsibility to ensure they are packed in order to prevent damage, as airlines do not accept responsibility for perishable, fragile, or valuable items.

Now I dont know how much I would have to pay for it or if I could even fly it over like that (route is Berlin to Dublin). I just dont really know what to do or not to do. Obviously if it is to expensive Im not gonna consider it as an option anymore but it would be interesting to know if its possible to carry that guinea pig cage on a usual flight.

Would you all categorise it as a 'large gift wrapped item'?

Thanks in advance for your help everyone :)
