Hi, just looking for peoples opinions here, Im thinking of doing my 1st triathlon this summer but I am also hoping in running the cork marathon (will be my 2nd time doing this), both events are 2 weeks apart with the marathon being the 1st event of the 2. I intend in doing (hoping) 2/3 swim sessions during the week, an hour on the bike mid week and also 2 runs,a long run on a saturday and a long cycle on a sunday. Of course all in an ideal world but that is my intended training plan. My question is, is it possible to do both events with that training plan. My long runs im thinking of doing 13 miles up until end of march and then increase it up to 20ish. Im not worrying about times in either event but i dont want to finish last either ;)

Two weeks between the two is not ideal to say the least. If you just want to finish then you prob will but you'll certainly have performed well under what your capable of in both.

You've got 6 sessions in mid week and a long run & long cycle at weekends? Will you have the legs for a long cycle the day after a long run? I wouldn't...

Then you face into your pretty busy week... assuming you're taking one day with just a swim / rest day, you have 4 days to fit in 5 sessions... that's fine for someone who built up to that level of fitness but if you're just looking to finish both the triathlon & the marathon, are you sure you won't start skipping sessions?

I don't think the two so close together are a good idea... you won't do yourself justice in either & both will be feel harder than they should. Thats just my opinion tho...

What distance triathlon are you doing? If its a sprint then I guess it could be doable just 2 weeks after the marathon. I wouldnt advise it though. Pick a different triathlon maybe 8 weeks after your marathon. Theres plenty of them during the summer anyway.

You time in the triathlon wont be up to your best but it wont kill you. I like your thinking a long run on a sat and long cycle on the sunday. That worked for me over the summer.
20 mile run, 5o mile cycle. Although both were done easy. Long always easy.
What days are you intending on going hard ???
hour bike ride maybe with 20 x 2 min hard ??

Pick a different triathlon. I would be afraid that the triathon just wouldn't happen. If you have a deep deep cardio fitness and very durable legs then what harm, but if you don't why not take a few extra weeks recovery by doing a later race?
