finding the perfect fit

    Hey ladies,

i am trying to find the perfect fitting bra as i have gained weight plus nuvaring has made me bigger however not sure what is the right size.

I got measured in ann summers as 32C but tried this on and have (boobs too small) and serious red marks, in debenhams got measured only underbust and then she said you are definitly 34 and made me try on a 34D and was like yes that fits. So i am wearing a 34D right now but have back pain and shoulder pain and a headache so i am thinking this isnt the right size either. I looked up online for hours and found a measuring guide and got 28.5 underbust and 37 on the fullest part. in the 34D i can pull the band pretty far away from my back and it is quite high up

Does anyone know where is good to get measured? Or what size you think i am?
also where is good to get comfy, new looking bras in bigger sizes?
    thanks so much in advance

I've found that like clothes or shoes, despite universal sizing - not all manufacturers actually have the same sizing and what fits in one size in La Senza is too big in M&S and so on.

I would recommend getting a range of bras, in a range of colours and materials, from a range of stores/lingerie departments and take back all but the ones you find most comfortable. hth. :)

You're probably best going to one of the more traditional department stores like Arnotts or Clearys. They tend to have older, experienced ladies working there and also have a vast range of bras for you to try.

I've found M&S to be good as well and they have a much wider range of sizes than La Senza

Like ickle magoo, I vary from brand to brand. I'd go somewhere they don't have an 'own brand' (like M&S/Debs) to get measured, am not a fan of the fit in either brand and find that they're pushed on me by staff.

the problem with getting measured in arnotts or clearys is that the bra styles would probably be old fashioned as well as the ladies measuring, however im writing down all the places mentioned and will try all! and can report back

I totally agree. The Old School department store ladies are the best for doing a proper bra fitting.

The problem with places like La Senza and Ann Summers is that they sell bras whose main purpose is to LOOK good by themselves.

When you are a larger cup size, which you are, you need to worry first about the fit. The most important things are that the bra fit perfectly, offer support, provides "uplift" and make your clothing hang right. That's what a bra is supposed to do!

When you try them on make sure you put a blouse or shirt over them to see how they look under clothes.

If you have shoulder or back pain you might need bras with wider shoulder straps and try to get one with at least three hooks in the back.

Arnott's carry Chantelle and Fantasie. These are extremely high quality and not old fashioned looking. It's better to have a few high quality bras than a dozen cheaper ones. If you wash them out in the shower and air dry, they'll last forever.

You can always buy some cheaper, sexy lace ones for the bedroom or whatever. But for everyday wear focus on FIT. You'll thank me when you're older!

Didn't mean to write a whole essay, but I see so many women walking around with ill fitting bras which makes them look saggy and 10 pounds heavier than they really are and it's a huge pet peeve of mine.

Washing bras in the shower is a great idea. I hate all the hand washing

+1 for Arnott's (on Henry St), and not all of the bras are ugly/for mammies etc. Some are, obviously, but definitely not all. My personal favourite is a lovely brand called Freya (made by Fantasie) that have lovely girlie prints and colours, but do listen to what the staff tell you because they know their stuff!

I got measured in M&S, Debenhams, La Senza and Arnotts and Arnotts is the only one I was happy with. I'm an F so really need the support and always go to Arnotts or Clerys. There can be good bargains in the sales too, if you don't mind rooting through rails of bras :)

Its just round the corner from the fire station. You have to ring to make a appointment for a fitting but I have found them great. I come up a couple of times a year to get sorted. They also sorted ut all my undies for my wedding. They also make bodies which I find great for wearing under dresses for a special occ. they use the bra you want so you get great lift and support. initmate lingerie I am sure is the shop name, Phone 01.6771010

Hey i haven't found time to book for fitting in intimate lingerie as have been studying but when i get to go i will definitly let you know how i get on until then i went to Bramora off leeson street for a fitting today and she said i was 32DD so i am in search of some basic bras of this size tomorrow because in town i searched some places and either they don't stock that size or it is all sold out.

intimate lingerie has a really big selection and aren't expensive so will definitly pop in.

    Hi All,
I ordered a bra from intimate lingeree 3 weeks ago to be posted, it never arrived and I've left numerous messages to be called back but so far nothing, is this store still in business?
