i have never shaved any part of my body other than my face, but a female friend told me she prefers a guy to be smooth, or at least trimmed tighlty in the nether regions. she reckons it makes the guy look more visually appealing and feels better during oral sex and sex.

i have experimented with cutting it tightly and it definitely makes a difference visually, but i won't be trying out the sexual side of it for another few weeks until i'm back with my gf.

does anyone have any views on this? cut it tight, shave it or leave it along?

personally i've always used a male grooming kit yokey not too tight' never a razor blade way too close to stuff . i've no idea what women think i've never asked . it definitely makes you look "bigger" and to be honest less sweaty in those parts so that can only be a good thing i'd highly recommend it .

Shave it off bro, been doing it years, trim with clippers at first if you dont want to go the whole hog, stubble can be annoying for the girl but that depends on her preferences, the sex does feel way better though, especially if she's smooth as well, it can feel amazing if she's just been waxed and you've just shaved. Wet shaving down there can take a bit of practice though, and a steady hand is essential, plus for the love of god use plenty of shaving foam, also use a scrub to exfoliate afterwards, as you dont want ingrown hairs down there, enjoy!

Don't shave or you'll be itching from the stubble. Just trim it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

yeah, i trimmed pretty tight and it's a little itchy. shaving would be to high maintenance, i only shave my face once a week when it gets itchy, don't want to have to deal with that in my trousers.

Ok, well personal preference is trimmed, but if it's neat down there anyhow then it's not a huge deal.

One small tip - when your gf asks you what possessed you to trim it, DO NOT tell her your female friend suggested it. Minefield.

    .

Good lord yeah, "i wanted it to be sexy for you and feel better during sex" not "oh a girl told me its a turnon" is the correct answer here :D

I've being shaving my ball bag and surrounding area for years. I leave a bit of foliage on top but otherwise all gone. Get lots of compliments. If you only trim it can be very itchy for your partner.

The first few times you need to be careful but after awhile you can just do it in the shower without foam. Takes me about 3mins every third shower.

Do you like going down on the fairer sex when they have an out of control bush??

They like things clean and tidy too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

+1 on that, i wouldnt like to go down on someone with a mountain of hair down there, hairy bushes are just horrid, so i keep mine tidy for that reason too, nothing ruins the mood of a blow job than the girl having to stop to pick hairs off her tongue or risk choking on one

well she's completely waxed, first time i've been with a girl that's gone the whole hog down there. it's FANTASTIC. also, she knows the girl that suggested it so it's no a problem.

it came up in conversation as well with my gf when i was saying i needed to trim my beard and i jokingly told her i was going to do the whole kit and kaboodle. she don't me she'd never been with a bald guy before (bald balls) so it'll be interesting to see how she responds.

i like it, i've decided. i look huger than normal

i've never been particurly bushy and i've never had any complaints before. i think the change will be a novelty and a talking point, both things that are good in the bedroom.

Its very weird in my opinion for a guy to completely shave every bit of hair off his balls and surrounding area. Yeah, keeping the area trimmed is grand but taking it all off is very odd. A man is meant to have pubic hair, chest hair, leg air etc and all this shaving waxing nonesense is alarming. I don't want to look like a 14 year old. I like looking manly (because i'm a man) and i'd hope the vast majority of guys think the same way.

I remember standing outside a pub a while back talking to girl and i had the top button of my shirt unbuttoned. She said, "oh thats horrible, would you not shave your chest". I thought she was joking initially but to my horror she had this look on her face that said she defo wasn't joking. How very very sad. Suffice to say, i just laughed at her and told her to head over to the George. Plenty of hairless twinks over there.

Thats your perogative, presonally i prefer having little to no hair down there, you sweat less, its cooler, its cleaner, and my missus loves it :D plenty of women love a guy with hair, plenty love one without

Are you serious Zaph. Get yourself a sense of humour. I can't see how that comment was offensive. I was having a laugh with the girl but you wouldn't understand that by the sounds of it.

Krudler, fair enough. Each to their own but i personally don't understand why i guy should feel the need to completely shave down below. This must be a relatively new thing because i can honestly say i don't know any mates who completely shave down below and us boys talk about everything but if it works for you then go for it.

Also, what does it have to do with what a women thinks. If the girlfriend told me to shave completely down below because it looked cleaner, i'd tell her to get a grip. I do trim but i do it because i want to do it. I wouldn't tell my girlfriend how to look after her pubic area. Shes a clean girl and uses common sense but its up to her how much hair she chooses to keep down below. There are far more important things to be worrying about IMO.

    UPDATE:
24 hours on it's a wee bit itchy, but that'll improve i suppose once the sharp edges soften up.

still liking it. wish i had the sense to take before and after pics but that's not something i'd like to be caught looking at. i won't tell the girlfriend, looking forward to seeing her response and feedback on how different it feels.

for anyone thinking of doing it, it's pretty cool because you know you've done something that a lot of people (our banned friend for example) think is out of the ordinary and slightly taboo. if the response is good to this i'll be considering going the whole hog with a razor.

    Hey,

Just to give a girls perspective. I quite like hairy men, more manly you know? Not saying I want to have to go looking trough the forest, neatly trimmed down there is fine but shaved chest, legs etc really are a huge turn off for me.

Also as a side note the women in early renaissance paintings don't have pubic hair because it's a sign of passion and women where supposed to be submissive and not passionate, just a little fun fact that made me think renaissance men must have been real knob heads.

There is nothing out of the ordinary or taboo about completely shaving your dangly bits. Its just naff. If you get a good response to this thread you'll go the whole way and shave it all off. So in other words, your a sheep and follow what you think popular opinion is. You aint doing this because you suddenly thought, oh "shaving my pubes is a good idea". Your doing it too please your girlfriend or because you read to many metrosexual magazines. But listen mate, you do what makes other people happy, i mean, makes you happy.

Isnt that a good a reason as any? the sex is amazing when you shave it all off

Krudler, normally i would agree with you about doing stuff to please the girlfriend or put a smile on her face but this is taking it too far. OP, she'll have you putting pigtails in your hair next :D. I mean, trim your pubic hair by all means, but shaving it all off  is just wrong.

Oh right, your sex life has gone up a notch since you trimmed your pubic hair . So thats where some people are going wrong in the bedroom. Its all about the pubic hair and nothing to do with the technique lol. Well, we learn something new every day.

I just go for the occasional trim (in private, not to the barbers :D)

To be honest, I think it'd look really weird if I shaved it off because my legs are pretty hairy too. Bit o' hair does no harm.

Look mate. I have hairy legs, moderately hairy chest and don't shave these areas. Although I like to get these areas kissed from time you time I don't expect a lover to spend too much time there.

My balls and knob area is however, an area I thoroughly enjoy to be given as much attention as possible. Therefore I endeavor to keep that area as appealing as possible.

I can assure that I'm not some skinny jeans wearing metrosexual. I am very much a mans mans. All of my mates are similarly groomed.

Its sound to me that you and your mates are out of the loop I'm afraid.

Dont knock it till you've tried it;) less of the sarcasm as well,i prefer it, the gf prefers it, sex feels better for both of us, so where the harm?

Blue1980, are you saying that you completely shave downstairs . I think its only right and proper to trim especially if you like receiving oral on a regular basis but i'm not having it that its normal or even common to whip it all off. I'll stand by that till the day i die. Its fooking wrong, end of.

Krudler, how can the sex be better. Pubic hair doesn't play any part in sexual intercourse. Look, i must be showing my age or something but say 10 years ago, if i had told a mate i was completely shaving my balls, i'd have been asked if i bat for the other side :D and i'm fairly sure that all my mates still think along the same lines. Body hair on a man is normal especially chest and pubic (trimmed) hair. Any women who wants her man to whip it all off needs her head examined.

While I'm prefectly comfortable with a shorn scrote and surrounding area, what's the concensus on facial hair? I'm currently bearded again after a year of not. Some of my female friends prefer it, some claim that women generally hate it. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but what in the vast experience shown on this board is the general feeling?

Ha, i shave my bits but a razor hasnt touched my facial hair in over 2 years, i trim and keep it varying degrees of stubbly but havent been clean shaven in forever, i hate it, makes me look way younger and i dont like how my face looks, women prefer me stubbly and i like it, so stubbly i stay:D

I'm quite hairy elsewhere. There is a trick to blending it in and not looking like a plucked turkey.

Trim the part above your knob but still leave enough there to avoid looking like a seven year old. Shave the end of your shaft. Gives you an extra inch visually. completely shave your ball bag. It does not look that much different than unshaved. But if she has her head down it make all the difference.

Do you like going down on the fairer sex when they have an out of control bush?? I now point blankly refuse to go down on big bushes. Irish girls are terrible for it.

Less friction, doesnt smell or get sweaty as much, smooth skin pressing against more smooth skin feels a lot better than 2 brillo pads rubbing off each other :D

I love that my missus gets her waxed, leaves a trimmed landing strip sometimes as getting it entirely waxed off can be painful and dangerous, but getting a mouthful of pubes when you're going down on a girl is a surefire way to murder the mood of sex, I've only ever been with one girl who was hairy down there and it was awful, i sure as shyte wouldnt want a girl going down on my if it was a raging jungle down there, so off it comes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

I wouldn't even consider it. Real men don't fiddle around with that sort of thing. I have never lost a hairy chest competition and never intend to.

Krudler, i cleanse and moisturise twice a day. I like to have nice skin. I trim down below. I shower every day. I wear aftershave whenever i go to a club or pub. I like to wear nice trendy clothes. I keep fit etc etc etc but "I draw the line at certain things". If i told my women i was completely shaving all my pubic hair off, she'd be very worried because ultimately she likes a man to look like a man. Thats my view on it as a male but each to their own.

    Agree entirely.

However I'm nearly 30 and unfortunately unkempt bushes were the norm for girls when I was in my late teens. Enjoyed it then because I didn't know any different, and because I was getting laid full stop.

However travelled allot since then and discovered the joy of a well trimmed box. Come back to Ireland and and nearly died when I scored an Irish girl for the first time in a long time.

Thankfully attitudes are starting to change.

I'm female and I REFUSE to go near any guy with a mad bush. If he is completely shaved then that's the ideal.

And to say that hair is normal on a man - well it is for women too you know! Women also grow hair on their legs, armpits and genitals! So it's a stupid thing to say that it's somehow normal for men to have hair and not for women.

Do you expect your partner to shave her legs? Trim her bush? If so, then she has the right to expect the same of you. And if she's not mentioned it, I'd say if you asked her she'd say she'd prefer a trim at least.

It's much nicer to perform oral sex on someone who takes care of themselves. And to my mind, anyone who takes care of themselves down there will be better in bed - i.e. they are concerned about their partner's pleasure! And not just their own.

What constitutes a "real man"? if its being some unkempt caveman then no thanks, i've got hairy legs and a pretty hairy chest (no back hair thank christ) so keeping the bits and bobs shaved for me and herselves preference doesnt make me any less of a man thanks very much, Irish men tend to have a pretty backwards view of grooming anyay, one of the gf's friends exes used to use soap to wash, and that was it, no shower gel, no shampoo as they were "gay" apparently, granted this guy looked likehe just wandered down from the mountains and was one of the most homophobic, mysoginistic assholes you'd ever meet, but still

Hey smoother. You'd want to read my other posts instead of conveniently picking out certain points i made to suit your arguement. You say, you'd never go near a man with a mad bush. So you meet a nice guy, you date him for a while. You fall for him and can't wait to get him into bed. Then he whips his boxers off and god forbid, has a lot of pubic hair. Are you going to tell him to put his clothes back on and leave? Are you really that shallow? Please, cop yourself on.

Look, i am no neanderthal. I take good care of myself, better than most guys but i draw the line at having no pubic hair just to please a women. Some people have too much time to think if they are completely turned off by pubic hair to the point of it being a deal breaker.

For me, a hairy bush on a women wouldn't be a big deal because to be honest i'd be far too busy enjoying their company and just having fun for it to ever become an issue. Its trivial stuff IMO.

I've went the whole hog pretty much down there myself once or twice. Trimmed with some scissors or clippers then ended up using a razor. To be honest, I didn't like how the area looked when it was fully shaved. To be blunt, it looked like a plucked chicken and it started to get a bit itchy after a while.

I've also just trimmed things down quite far without going the whole hog. I haven't received a female's verdict on either version, but from my own view point, the trimmed version looks better than the bald version. But maybe that's just me.

I definitely agree with how even just trimming it makes you lap dancing pole seem bigger :D

i love how this has escalated from "do you reckon i should trim my nether regions" to "people who trim their nether are clearly homos hur hur hur".

now that i've had a good poke around down there with a scissors i've noticed for the first time how much hair is actually down there. i can see the logic behind shaving all the hair from the shaft and base, hair just gets caught up in everything and increases friction, not in a good way. i'll leave the trimmed section as it is about the base, but the rest is going, including smooth balls. expect another thrilling update tonight or tomorrow.

    WTF?
More and more guys shave the whole thing off, its a neanderthal thing to say real men dont do it! Seriously man get with the times. 30 years ago it would have been unacceptable to trim your pubes; now its perfectly acceptable and majority do.

now that i've had a good poke around down there with a scissors i've noticed for the first time how much hair is actually down there. i can see the logic behind shaving all the hair from the shaft and base, hair just gets caught up in everything and increases friction, not in a good way. i'll leave the trimmed section as it is about the base, but the rest is going, including smooth balls. expect another thrilling update tonight or tomorrow.

Lol good for you mate, shaving your balls is a memorable moment in a mans life

I reckon tidy is best, doesn't have to be fully shaved.

yeah, i've been thinking this myself. the maintenance of keeping clean shaven on the face would my tenfold with the ballbag. i'll hold off and see what she thinks. memorable quote when we were talking about it.."i've never had a bald guy". i didn't feel it right to say "i've had plenty of bald girls"!

    sensible guy :)

an ex of mine used to shave totally - while it did make him look huge, the bare look was off-putting for me

trimmed and neat would be fine

What's all this about "I don't want to look like a 7 year old"? Not saying much about your endowments there lads... I've been with a couple of guys who were fully shaved and believe you me, a bald hardon looks just as grown up as a hairy one :)

It does add a certain something to sex... Less friction, more slip and slide ;) And if I had to pick, I'd go for fully shaved over full bush anyday. Makes oral much more appealing.
