I'll give this a shot- everyone is going to have their own fav's

    Cluxton
    (Dublin)

Mike McCarthy Francis Bellew Anthony Lynch
    (Kerry) (Armagh) (Cork)

Declan Meehan Seamus Moynihan Tomas O' Shea
    (Galway) (Kerry) (Kerry)

    Darragh O'Shea Sean Cavanagh
    (Kerry) (Tyrone)

Brian Dooher Declan O'Sullivan Oisin McConville
    (Tyrone) (Kerry) (Armagh)

Peter Canavan Padraic Joyce Colm Cooper
    (Tyrone) (Galway) (Kerry)

There are a few notable exceptions- I would have loved to have Mattie Forde in there but when it came down to it he has no All Ireland and was not part of the Wexford resurgance last year.

Also Mike McCarthy came to his own as full back for Kerry after 2002 but he won an All Star in the corner aswell.

    hmm...

    B. Cummins (Tipp)
    M. Kavanagh (Kilkenny) N. Hickey (Kilkenny) O. Canning (Galway)
    T. Walsh (Kilkenny) K. McGrath (Waterford) Sean Og O Halpin (Cork)
    J. O'Connor (Cork) D. Lyng (Kilkenny)
    B. O'Connor (Cork) H. Shefflin (Kilkenny) E. Larkin (Kilkenny)
    J. Mullane (Waterford) E. Kelly (Tipp) J. Deane (Cork)

    6 Kilkenny, 4 Cork, 2 Tipp, 2 Waterford and 1 Galway

    Subs:
    D. Fitzhenry (Wexford)
    D. O'Sullivan (Cork)
    J.J. Delaney (Kilkenny)
    T. Browne (Waterford)
    R. Curran (Cork)
    T. Dunne (Tipp)
    M. Comerford (Kilkenny)
    E. Brennan (Kilkenny)
    P. Flynn (Waterford)

No 15 was a tough choice, but Deane's greater consistency over the decade won it over Flynn who was only at his peak until 04/05. No 12 was a straight fight between Larkin and Brennan. Don't ask me why I chose Larkin, I just did! O'Halpin or Delaney was a close one as well, as was the midfield pairings. Looking back maybe I'm being a bit too nice on the Cork lads with 4 players in the starting XV, but that's how it turned out.

good picks there lads found it more easy to pick the hurling team then Football team if im honest. (just trying decide few positions)

In football I have Diarmuid Murphy in goals personally I think Cluxton is one most overratted players but thats just my opinion.

    but fair play both ye.

I wouldn't say Cluxton is over-rated. All top keepers can make great saves, but it's the simple things that Cluxton does well, never makes mistakes. Murphy is also a great keeper, but Cluxton is not over-rated. Other than that, I'd swap Oisín McConville with his fellow county player Steven McDonnell.

Another good team for the hurling, I'd swap Ben O'Connor with Eddie Brennan and Seán Óg with JJ.

    2 Quality teams though.

Not as easy as it sounds but here's my quick choice off the top of my head :

    B Cummins
    S O'Neill
    N Hickey
    O Canning
    T Walsh
    JJ Delaney
    J O'Connor
    C Lynch
    B O'Connor
    H Shefflin
    E Brennan
    E Kelly
    J Deane
    J Mullane

    1. Diarmuid Murphy - Cluxton has f*ed up in 2 many big games.
    2. Marc Sé - honourable mention Tom Sullivan
    3. Seán Marty Lockhart - h.m Darren Fay..
    4. Ryan McMenamin - h.m Anthony Lynch
    5. Tomás O'Sé - prob player of the decade.
    6. Geezer - A rock
    7. Seamus Moynihan - could play anywhere in backline
    8. Darragh O'Sé - 6 AI's..unreal
    9. Seán Kavanagh - not a natural midfielder,but a class act.
    10. Brian Dooher - phenomenal endurance
    11. Stephen O'Neill - more art home inside,but won allstar at 11 in '01.
    12. Declan Sullivan - superb ball carrier.
    13. Colm Cooper - some magic moments from 2002 on.
    14. Ronan Clarke - when fit, ive never seen him held i think.
    15. Peter Canavan - If only for 2003-2005 he deserves it..

Very hard to pick teams like these..comes down to personal choice a lot...Joyce,Stevie McDonnell, Paul Galvin, McConville,Anthony Lynch, Michael Donnellan, Ciarán MacDonald etc..very hard to leave out.

    7 Kerrymen, 5 Throne, 2 Armagh, 1 Derry...seems a bit uneven,but I think the choices are easily justified...

Agree about McGeeney, here's mine, for the record.
    1. D Murphy
    2. M O Se
    3. M McCarthy
    4. T O'Sullivan
    5. T O Se
    6. K McGeeney
    7. S Moynihan
    8. D O Se
    9. S Cavanagh
    10. B Dooher
    11. D O'Sullivan
    12. P Galvin
    13. C Cooper
    14. P Joyce
    15. P Canavan

I realise selecting 10 kerry players is going to annoy a few. Its even annoying me. I selected the players on merit, in my view. As individuals, no county has more potential candidates for this kind of selection. They won half the AI's on offer this decade. While Tyrone kept the debate about team of the decade going right to the end, they wouldn'thave as many individuals putting their hands up for selection. As well as Cavanagh, Dooher and Canavan that I selected, I also considered McMenamon (lost out to most under rated corner back in the country), Jordan (can't look past the 3 half backs i've picked) and O'Neill (touch and go with Joyce).

As for the hurling, I'd be in even more trouble with the amount of players I have from the same county if I posted this one:D

My stab at the football...this has changed on what i picked earlier in the year.Ones in bold are pretty much a given IMO and should be on everyones team with no debate on it!

    Murphy.

    Marc O Shea
    Seamus Moyniham
    Ryan McMenimin
    Thomas O Shea---Kieran McGeeney
    Philip Jordan

    Darragh O Shea
    Sean Kavanagh

    Paul Galvin
    Declan O Sullivan
    Brian Dooher.
    Colm Cooper
    Stephen O Neill----Stevie McDonald.

so thats 8 kerry, 5 Tyrone, 2 Armagh, which IMO, going on finals contested, then finals won, is about right. these 3 teams were the 3 that were the best of the decade, with Cork next towards the end. ...and before people start saying that all these players were on great teams and its easy to stand out in great teams, these were the players who dragged these teams over the line and won them all irelands. Maurice Fitzgerald did it for Kerry in 97, Joyce did it for Galway in 2001, Canavan almost did it in 95. all fantastic players who proove that 1/2 great players with 13/14 good players, can win you an all ireland. the difference above, is that these teams had 4 or 5 great players.

    other players who were close
    Cluxton.
Tom Sullivan (5 all irelands this decade), Lost out just about to Marc
Mike McCarthy (one of the amazing stories of 2009) lost out to Ricey.
Graham Canty lost out just about to The Pony.
Joyce (can claim the 11 or 14 spot no problem, just thought the other 2 who i went with did just about more than him, when it came to it, on the big stage)
Declan Browne - i had the pleasure of seeing him play about 4 times and he roasted kerry every time he played us. i remembered seeing him score 1-8 against Kerry and Tipp still got hammered by about 20 points. delighted he got his deserved all star. one of my players of the decade, jut missing out to mcdonald.

Canavan - did it when it mattered in 2005. and suppose in 2003 also. just think the other 3 lads in there overall did more as PTG only played for half the decade really due to retirement.
