    Hi,

What do you use to know how far you have done when out running? i.e. How do you know when you have reached 5miles, etc.?

    Thanks.

oops. could moderator move this to Athletics / Running / Triathlon forum. Thanks!!

Those lucky enough to have a GPS Watch e.g. Garmin will use those.

I use mapmyrun.com. Either before or after the run I map it out and get the distance from that. Excellent.

Also very useful for cycles (mapmyride.com - same thing). Both will allow you to track roads, and whats particularly nice for planning cycles is that it can show you the elevation profile of your trip.

I'd agree with that. It also has a workout calculator in which you enter your details (weight, height etc), time of your run and gives you calories burned within your session. A great tool and is free to sign up to!!

    My watch goes beep.

On my usual routes I'd get to know where I am up to after a while, with where I've been running the last week though I've just kept an eye on how far the Garmin tells me that I've done, but I tend to not actually go out with much of a plan of how far I'm going anyway.
