Vista permissions

Hi, I am having a annoying problem.

I am trying to delete a file, when I try to delete it it asks for permission through UAC as normal etc. then it says I do not have permission.

I try to change permissions by right clicking and properties - but it says "unable to display current owner" when I am in the advanced dialogue box.

I tried through the CMD to delete, but it claims the file does not exist.

I have also tried moving it and renaming it etc but no joys as it says it needs permission, but I can not assign permission.

I want to get rid of the file as for some reason the computer tries to access it and my firewall doesn't like this!

the file in question is an installer for Wireshark.

    any suggestions would be welcome!

I am using Vista Ultimate x64, and am the only user - any other info you need ask away

Would your AV software have quarantined it?

Checked there and the file wasn't mentioned in quarantine, told it to delete the file there. But still no joy :(

I'm guessing it might be a corruption. Its worth trying chkdsk.

Tried that, went through all 3 stages and all fine, also tried safeboot with command mode.

Thanks for your time by the way!:)
