How to do a "full reboot" of my NTL STB?

How do I do a full reboot of my NTL STB? I've tried a few things and I don't know if I'm doing it right. Could anyone tell me what would constitute a "full reboot"? I know it may sound stupid, but I'm completely useless when it comes to this sort of thing.

I assume you just need to turn it off using the switch/button at the back of the box (and plug it out if you want to be certain) then on again.

Er, any NTL (or UPC) STBs I have ever seen do not have an on-off switch. They have a power button, but it only places the STB into standby.

To do a full reboot, plug out the box, wait a minute or so, and then plug it back in again.

The HD STBs do. As you say, if there's no power switch, just unplug, ensure the box is fully powered off, then power on again.

You can restart the box pressing help and then the yellow button. But if you mean restore the factory settings then I dont know.

Help --> Yellow only works on NTL branded boxes though, I should add.

That's all right. That's the one I have.

I've tried everything and I'm still seeing only ITV2 (No 3 or 4), ESPN and ESPN America still haven't come through and I'm still missing a few channels that I don't think a lot of others are missing.

Are you on MMDS? MMDS customers are only getting ITV2 apparently. You'll know if you're on MMDS, you'll have a aerial on your roof.

I have the new upc media box made by Cisco for hd+ and the factory setting is default "0000"
and i noticed the installer code after that is "141" this downloads fresh software and the complete channel list. This helps a lot if you are having software problems such as very slow epg etc. There will be a lot of switching on and off during this process. You will know its finished when you get a steady red light and the clock on the display.

****. I think that's me. So no chance of ESPN and/or FX later this month if I'm MMDS?

Not sure about ESPN - there's not so much as a mention as to what the MMDS packages are now on Chorus NTL's website. Ditto for FX.

The general point is that MMDS customers will always have an inferior service to cable customers. MMDS in Ireland was only ever designed to carry 11/12 analogue channels. There just simply isn't the bandwidth on MMDS for the amount of channels which cable can carry.

As long as you are on Max or Select plus you will get ESPN dont matter if you are MMDS or Cable not sure about F/X and the rest of the channels though
