screen goes blank during startup

    Hi,

I'm working on a PC at the moment - Windows XP, Home edition.

When I start it up the usual messages (DOS like) come up on the screen followed by the Windows logo with the green status bar along the middle. Then the screen goes blank - after a few seconds a message "no input signal received".

It seems as if the PC stops transmitting a signal to the screen - there is no difference of the tone from the PC during this time.

Not sure what might be the problem. Recently replaced the power supply in this PC. Screen is connected to a graphice card.

Any ideas what might be wrong or how I could de-bug ?

    Thanks in advance.

Pull out all usb and any other stuff attached except the monitor keyboard and mouse.

    Restart and get back ;-)

There is nothing else plugged in. Keyboard is wireless. So gaget to pickup signal is plugged into keyboard pin. Mouse plugged into usual spot. Otherwise that is it.

start the machine in VGA mode, if that works you need to adjust your screen settings/resolution. Maybe the resolution is too high for the card.

Finally got back to this....tried another screen (CRT) but still the same problem - booted in VGA mode and was able to get in. Tried the lowest resolution but still won't go past the startup scree.

Not sure what the problem might be. Any other suggestions on how to get around this ?

Thanks - that did the trick - installed the most recent driver and I'm back up and running...
