Tourism opportunity

The Irish Minister for tourism Mr Martin Cullen has decided to cash in on the current cold snap by renaming Howth to 'Hoth' and inviting legions of Star Wars fans to "Come feel the (cold) force" in Ireland.

It is understood that several other ministers and ex-ministers have been asked to help seize this opportunity by donning costumes and welcoming tourists to the area. Bertie Ahern has been lined up to play the part of Darth Vader and Brian Lenihan has expressed a keen interest in throwing on a Chubacca costume and growling incoherently for hours.

Whilst Brian Cowen has been approached to play the role of Jabba the Hut, he is apparently more interested in appearing as the fearsome Wampa creature from the Hoth system as he feels this will be the key attraction due to the current weather conditions. However, insides sources state he just wants to use the opportunity to rip a few opposition ministers to shreds.

Other possible appearances include President Mary McAleese as Princess Leia, and Paul Gogarty from the Green Party as Jar Jar Binks. The Labour parties Emmet Stagg when asked if he would help out by playing the part of Yoda, responded by saying "**** you Mr Gogarty, I do. Play with him I would not."

The expected hilarity is expected to increase tourism by at least 5% in the month of January.
