Skull cap or hat?

    Hi,
I plan to cycle to work (10km) sometimes once the weather gets a bit better.
Not sure if I'll wear a helmet or not- please don't go off on a tangent about this...

Which is better for the mornings- a skull cap or a hat- which would keep me warmer?

    And can anyone recommend any?
    Cheers,
    Pa.

I love my skull cap, keeps my ears nice and warm but also getting a cycling cap to go over the skull cap for when it's raining. You could always get a winter cap which combines the two.

    With helmet: skull cap.
    Without helmet: fleecy hat.

I'd opt for a skull cap if you ever want the option to wear a helmet at some point, much thinner material, and they usually have a windproof section at the front.
They look a bit funny on their own though.

If you know you'll never be wearing a helmet, a warm hat is the way to go IMO.

I thought the whole pt of a skull cap was to wear it under a helmet (thinner material, so)

I have a skull cap from Gore. Windproof too. Works fine in this weather. Not as good as a proper hat but it is sufficient.
