NTL/chorus Bill

Hi all

i recieved notice from ntl yesterday that my bank had refused my DD payment this month. But the amount i pay every two months from when i signed up 4 years ago was 63.98 every two months. But this bill i got in the post yesterday is for €153.80 and that there will be an additional 7 euro for the late dd. I contacted them and am awaiting a response but in the mean time can anyone shed some light on why my bill is over double what it should be

Well probably means last months bill went unpaid if the DD failed so you would have been billed for last month, this month and the 7.99 fee for non the canx of dd

no thats not it its 63.98 every two months, it was paid in october and was due in december and the 63.98 was in the account and a bit more so if they had billed for the usual it would have been paid.

might be worth checking your bank statement then cause usually you only get that charge if the previous bill failed DD, and that would explain the high cost of this bill.
But it would say it on your bill anyway it gives balance from last bill and if it was paid or not

i can see on my online banking it was paid in october so no need to follow that up. i guess ill just wait till NTL get back to me thanks for your suggestions

well i got this reply from NTL this morning which is even more confusing as i only have the mmds basic


Please see below the breakdown of your bill.
You are charged €47 for the period of 28/11/2009 to 27/01/2010 for MMDS Basic, €16.99 for the period of 28/11/2009 to 27/01/2010 for MMDS Max and again for MMDS Max you are charged for the period of 04/11/2009 toi 27/11/2009 €25.17 and for the period of 28/11/2010 63.99.
Therefore your bill totals to €153.15.

Ok this what it looks like to me on the 04.11 your account was upgraded to max pack ( did you upgrade at any stage )
so from 04.11 to 27.11 you were billed 25.17
then you were billed 63.99 for your normal bi-monthly bill
total 89.16
and then you were probably billed 63.99 for 27.11 to 26.01

no never upgraded, i dont get why this bi-monthly bill is over double every other bi-monthly bill i ever got from them. they are making me mad now.

ya looking at again you be right that bill would have to take you up until the 27.03 for it to be that high
otherwise you were double billed.

the part that really confuses me is ok usual bill would state

If i had a max digital or whatever but what is this next bit

Why the 4/11 to 27/11 whats that about and im guessing 28/11/2010 is a type o but whats that about, its like firing random numbers at me, am so glad there wasn't enough in my bank account to cover this as i would never have know about this what i can only think of is a con.

today i think ntl might just have answered my question as to why my bill is over double what it normally is. Apparently they were charging me for haveing 2 boxes instead of one and was been charged for the basic package. So finally might be resolved, am so glad my DD didnt go through or i would never have known. Pays to be poor sometimes
