    I still wonder why UK customers get 10% discounts for orders over £499.

    Think it's very unfair.

    They used to give 10% in Ireland at least they did in 2008, not sure when the last time they did it was.
    Did you notice that they are also pushing up the amount you have to spend before you get the 5%? At one stage you only had to spend €849 and I think before that it was even less.

    That would be the Paddy tax! No use claiming that it is down to increased costs, apart from the VAT rate I'd say the cost to Dell of a sale in Ireland v UK are pretty similar. They majority of costs are in Thailand and India & Poland ;)

    But they are the Ryanair of computers, hard to beat their prices (he grudgingly types on his Dell laptop)

    I called Dell recently and found them very pushy! It put me off choosing them!

    I have to say the store revamps in PC World have impressed me. Semi decent selection, more Irish employees (I'm not racist), working displays, consistent branding and you can haggle a few euro off. They really turned themselves around.
