    Folks
    I have two quick questions

If I have a sky+ box with the two inputs connected can I use the record function for the "free" channels without a subscription.

Secondly I'm thinking of getting a DVD recorder with a freeview tuner. Is it correct to say that I can run a line from the dish to this directly to record my programs without going through the sky box. If so any suggestions as to best value make and model would be appreciated.

    Will.

no, the Sky+ recording feature only works with a valid Sky subscription.

"Freeview" is a UK terrestrial service, i.e. it comes in via the aerial not the satellite dish and you'll only be able to pick it in certain parts of the east coast or near the border.

"Freesat" is the satellite equivalent and "Freesat+" is the recording version.

Aha right...so essentially I'm looking for something with a freesat tuner plus a DVD playing recording ability...

    Thanks
