    Hi,

I have a Sky subscription but was thinking of getting a free to air box so I can watch TV in another room.

Do I need to buy a seperate dish for the free to air box or could I connect the free to air box to my existing sky dish?

Sorry have no clue about this type of thing, would appreciate any info :)

    Thanks,

    C

You can, if you want, buy a Sky Box and get a Quad LNB on the dish and watch FTA channels (for example, all the BCC's and ITV's, but not RTE 1&2).

yes your existing dish will work fine.

do you have sky + or is it basic sky box?
(as you will need to change the lnb if you do not already have one with 4 connections)

Thanks a mill for the speedy replies :)

That's great that I can use the existing dish as I didn't want to waste money or effort having to get another dish.

I have just regular Sky but I'm thinking of Sky Plus, would I be better off waiting for them to get their engineer out to hook up the new Sky plus before I go messing with their dish? or is it even something they'd be bothered about?

Why would you have to go messing with your dish, you will not need a new dish, just a Quad LNB, It has four wires coming out of it. A regular Sky Box needs 1 and a Sky+ Box needs 2 (1st for recording and the 2nd for watching while recording)
To use the recording function on a Sky+ Box, you need a vaild Sky subscription

if you are getting sky+ then just ask the person doing the install to run another cable (or 2) to the other location.

you will have to give them a few europs but well worth it.
