I was hoping to swap a working 40gb blu ray drive from one PS3 to another!

    Their both 40GB...

Anyone done this? Is it possible to just swap from one to another?

Or will I have to swap out parts from the actual blu ray player itself?

    Cheers!

You can't do a straight swap like that as the daughterboard on the Blu-Ray is locked to that PS3 motherboard.
Either crack open the Blu-Ray drive & swap the Blu-Ray laser
    OR
remove the daughterboards from both drives and swap them around.

You can't do this as the laser type is different in 60GB VS 40GB model.
