Confused over Calories in Pasta

I'm watching my calories these days and was having pasta for dinner but got confused over the calories.....

I had 2 types of paste. The Dunnes Stores Simply Better Penne pasta which said that it had 345 cals per 100g of uncooked paste....the other as a packet of Dolmio Fusilli pasta (microwave stuff that takes 60 seconds to heat) which declared 140cals per 100g.

Just wondering where the major difference comes from? So the full pack of Dolmio Fusilli is 220g so 308cals in total but 220g of the dunnes penne would be almost 750cals....thats huge

Well obviously. The cooked stuff has absorbed lots of water and weighs over twice as much. But without any extra cals. So lower cals per 100g

Pasta swells up by about a third when you cook it, so 100g of dry makes about 130/140g cooked. That means that 100g cooked pasta has fewer calories as 100g dry because about a third of it is water

Afrqid not. It swells by a third in volume. But water is denser than dry pasta, so the weight is over double (obviously depends on cooking time)

If dry pasta was less dense than water it would float! ;)

uncooked pasta always has about the same amount of calories:
    c. 330 - 350 calories.
all the ready meals are like already said, are precooked and contain water which doesn't have calories about increases the weight.
