    Hi,
I like a lot of people want to shift off about 10lbs and get a little fitter. I normally walk outdoor with a quick pace for about 50mins 5 times a week. But now due to a change in work times I may only be able to do 20 mins indoor on my treadmill my question is will I lose out by doing 2 sessions of 20mins hopefully 1 in the morning where I will walk fast before work and the other when I get home (while dinner is cooking)and for the 20mins in the evening I could run. I am mid 40's and do not do any weights just a walk. Will the fact that I dont do 50 mins together mean that I will lose out on fittness levels. Any other recommendations ?

I think the most important question is, what sort of dinner is that you are cooking?

I assume you are a girl. So you should be burning 1100 odd BMR calories a day and a few hundred more with chores factored in. So if you aim to burn an extra 500 calories a day through exercise and eating less calories you can effectively lose over a pound a week. If you have a calorie counter you should try work out what the amount of calories you typically consume at the moment. Then try reduce them but still eat healthy.

And no doing doing 2 20 minute sessions rather than a 50 minute one shouldn't yield much difference. Especially since you consider running for one of them. You should actually burn more calories.

    Hi
Yes I am a girl and I do not have a calorie counter so have no idea of how many calories I consume. For breakfast I usually have porrige and cofee or 2 weetabix with skim milk. Mid morning I would have a piece of fruit and for lunch I have either a tuna sandwich with 2 slices of wholemeal bread coffee and a low fat yougart or a bowl of soup and 2 tablespoons of tuna on cracker bread . I might have another piece of fruit at 4pm but sometimes I try to go without and for dinner it is chicken stirfry or salmon and veg and 3 baby potatoes or steak salad and veg with a cup of coffee and a digestive biscuit. Later at night I might have either a low fat yougurt or a mullier rice or a low cal choc drink. I am not sure how much of this I need to cut out to lose weight. Also at the weekends I would have 2 - 3 glasses of wine 3 nights and a dessert 1 night these are my treats and I know the wine has lots of wasted calories and I will try to reduce it .
