    Hi all.

Im looking at taking out Sky HD as a new subscriber. I'd like to go with a local installer instead of Sky direct as id like to be able to agree cable routes, dish positioning with the guy ahead of time ( Have an electrical background, not looking to break anyones balls just want it dont a certian way :) )

Can sombody tell me if i can go with a local installer as a first time subscriber, and if so will be be the same price as Sky have quoted me direct, €49 for HD Box and €30 Installation.

Finally, can anyone reccomend an installer in North Dublin who wont mind humouring me with cable routes, dish position etc...

    Thanks

    P

If you go to a Sky Kiosk in one of the shopping centres up there you'll get a local installer :)

    Oh right they're franchises then?

My main concern is dish position, couldnt live with it anywhere other then on the chimney stack. Am i going to get a health and safety response if i request that?

    Why the chimney??
There's loads of other options to be explored, t and k brackets etc...
Get the local installer to take a look, you'll be surprised what can be done..

It depends on high your chimney is ( and weather at the moment of course )

Some will go to heights, some won't. Some charge a fee for chimney or attic work.

What ALL engineers will do is go through the install with you and come to an agreement on runs of cable, placement of dish etc.

As Kbell says above, you'd be surprised what can be done with the use of brackets etc.

I just figured that the chimney would be the most astheticly pleasing place for it, the only place i wouldnt see it unless i looked for it i suppose. House is visable from 3 sides in a meduim density estate the dish would stick out like a sore thumb.

I would have my own lads do conduit work for the cables, these would have to run external and down the side of the house to the entry point for the box.

Will call a local installer so, golden pages here i come

    Thanks for the input
