    I’m sorry if this question has been asked before.
    For most of my working life I’ve been a sub contractor. Not paying PAYE-PRSI but using the Relevant Contracts Tax Deduction system.
    I’ve now like most subbies found myself out of work leaving me with absolutely no income to live from a day to day basis.
    All I keep hearing is I’m entitled to no social welfare.
    Surely there has to be something?
    I’m also hearing that if you do claim something it takes months to process.

    you can apply for suppplementary welfare allowance at your nearest health centre.the cwo will then visit you at home,not sure how long it will take from there maybe 2 to 3 weeks before payment,can take longer if you do not have all your relevant documents to hand.
