Thats great stuff. Had to be him as all the others are tried and tested. Lewis probably for excitement to join him though I always feared Anderson was promised the PL carrot by Barry Hearne for 2010 when he switched. Trouble with Gary is he can't seem to handle big TV events.

Has to be lewis now for the second spot, Lewis can give taylor a game, i'd love to see Lewis - Whitlock, Lewis - Taylor, Lewis - Wade and Lewis - Baxter

although i wouldnt mind anderson getting it, i think lewis has far more a claim for the spot

but since sky sports are picking the 2 wild cards this year, Whitlock looks to be their sensible choice, Anderson will be their daft choice

if mardle gets it i'll cry

jesus, i cant belive the money them lads are winning, fantastic to see like, but i diodnt think the "lower tier" players where earning that kind of crust, your man McDine is only 20 or so, thats phenomanly money at that age, fairplay to the PDC

        Dont kid yourself

its a 2 year Order of Merit

those guys who have earned 75k over 2 years are actually on about 30k a year, an average salary for a basic civil servant

and dont forget that each weekend of players championships they spent £200 entry fee's for the saturday and sunday and need accomodation, food, flights, etc. so each players championship weekend could be £600 - £1000 down the drain depending on how lucky you get with flights, travel, accom etc.

i think theres 18 or so players championship, and if you qualify the big TV one's too. so there's a lot of travel and accom needed meaning that you need about 16 or so thousand (i think we worked the maths about before that 16k-20k a year is needed to compete on the tour for a year)

so a lot of their 30k a year disappears in just getting there to compete.

Sponsors will help offset some of that, but not all players have sponsors and then not all sponsors are giving that much (especially if your a fringe player who may or may not be on tv) meaning sponsors dont really offset too much unless your a big name player.

so outside top 32, its not a career

anyone else think they are gona have to seriously consider goin from 8 to 10 players for this year?? it wouldnt be a bad thing and 1 more match a night wont take to much planning??

      4. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭vindaloo1

1 match more a night, but there will have to be be 2 more nights to
        accomodate the round robin matches.

true but i dont think theyd have a problem filling venues?
at the end of the day is about makin money for barry hearn, interest is near a all time high so why not?

i wouldnt like his job of pickin 1 more wildcard from the bunch available or theres a good chance promises will be broken

surely has to be a chance they will try it no?

Doubt it because it devalues the whole concept of it being a "Premier League" Anderson doesn't deserve to be in it and dare i say it, Lewis doesn't really either. Yeah, he got to the quarter finals with some very high averages but then lost 5-0 against Taylor.... not a massive achievement. Also he has not achieved much since his debut, let alone the last year.

Saying that i think he will get in no problem unless Anderson was promised a spot or O'Shea was promised a spot if he wins the BDO.

Sorry dude, but with Taylor in the field, can you name me anyone other than Wade and Barney who has won a bloody thing in the last couple of years...on that basis it should be a four man league

Taylor Barney Wade and Part.......last guy to win a big trophy outside of any of them has to be Lloyd (should probably look that up)

Colin Osbourne won the Championship League of Darts beating Taylor in the final.

True, but was that televised, and when most fans think Osbourne they think of him being hammered in the UK Open final!!
