.. are now on my upc digital channel line-up.

Given that I never watch ITV, is there anything noteworthy on these that I should look out for, or is it just a repository for the ITV back catalogue ?

For example, do they ever get a first run of a US import ?

ITV 2 is actually quiet decent, much better than ITV1. ITV2 gets the majority of the US imports like The Office, Gossip Girl, Entourage etc and show some decentish films. Not the best channel in the world but still alright.

ITV 2 is soap and reality trash, ITV3 is "recent classic" ITV - drama series from the 90/00s while ITV 4 is boys telly - shot em up movies, action tv series from the 60/70/80s plus football and motorsport.

    Not true. Silly sweeping statement.

You can catch The Cosby Mysteries the odd time, late on either ITV2 or 3. Television at its finest.

Oh pardon me, it's actually on UTV. My mistake.

There is nothing silly about my statement. Your claiming that it is is insulting. I am giving my opinion of those channels. Yours may differ but that's mine.

ITV4 should be renamed "Minder TV"!

Still a silly sweeping statement when responding to a specific question though.

I think it appears to be cool to say "They are all rubbish."

Yep, that's me super cool. Not as cool as joining in on a bandwagon to put down the naughty poster though.

Everybody should know by now that everyone has an opinion on everything. This includes how great or poor the ITV channels are. If you haven't figured this out by now then seek some help.

For football fans, I think ITV2/3/4 (one of them anyway) was televising some of the Europa League (UEFA Cup) football recently.

Plus I browsed ahead for the next week and I think ITV2 was ok, with some decent movies worth recording. Although ITV3/4 seemed to have quite boring/trashy tv, so haven't set anything to be recorded.

Is there not any clause in these NTL/UPC contracts that we sign up for and they just chop and change channels as they wish?

I remember couple years ago they got rid of UKTVG2 (now called Dave) and I went cracked as they have all the old Top Gear shows. Although we have it back now again.

ITV4 have 2nd choice for UK market of Europa League football (Channel 5 have first dibs) and they do a good job, often 2 games back to back in the group stage.

They reserve the right to change the lineup if they wish. It is in the small print.

You will only get the odd nugget on these channels, for the most part it's drivel. The same could be said for a lot of channels on the EPG of course.

ITV 4 has some gems ( although I own most of them on dvd ) but still great to watch on tv..

The saint, Randall and Hopkirk deceased, The Sweeny, Minder, The Professionals.. ITV 3 has the late great Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes..
