Can I claim?

On Stephen's Day I was due to fly from Cork to Manchester (Aer Lingus), 6 hour wait and then on to Marrakech (with Easyjet).

My Cork - Manchester flight was cancelled (due to the cockpit crew crashing their car on the way to the airport, apparently) and I was told by Aer Lingus that they could either refund my ticket, or else put me onto a flight to Birmingham that was leaving 2 hours later and then provide a coach transfer to Manchester.

Flight to Birmingham took off and landed late, and I was then told that the coach wouldn't be leaving for another hour and a half. This meant that I would definitely be missing my connecting flight to Marrakech. I then changed my Easyjet flight to one leaving 4 days later from London (at a cost of €120), got a train to London and stayed at a friend's house.

Was wondering if anybody knows whether I can claim expenses with my travel insurance? Policy document talks of cancellation and/or delay, but it's a bit vague and I'm not sure if my situation applies. Thanks.

You *might* be able to claim, but because you booked two entirely seperate flights they might very well say that you're only covered for the inconvenience of the the issues with the first flight. The cost of the easyJet flight/subsequent change fee/train fare may not be covered.

Really though, the only people who can answer this for you, is the insurer as policies vary, as do levels of cover. You need to talk to them to find out.
