    Hi
It is time for me to change spring in my JG AUG (0.5j - latest reading)and I was thinking that it is time to up upgrade few internals.
I am looking for advise for:
    1. Improve fps stability and reduce noise - what kind of cylinder sets shoud I get?
    2. New gears - I am looking at Modify as they seem to be pain free installation.
    3. New motor - better - faster?

I have seen before, but can't really find now new gearboxes that have spring and gears separatelly/ detachable. Basic idea is to get easy gearbox disassembly, spring change.

If it's firing at half a joule, you've some major compression or airseal problems, putting in a stronger spring will only put too much strain on the gearbox. You should check all the airseals and the hop rubber.
When did you last lubricate the piston? If the o-ring is dry you will lose a lot of your fps. Spray some silicone oil or spread some silicone grease on the piston head.
To check the airseal on the piston and cylinder, remove it from the mech box and cover the air nozzle with your finger, then push the piston down, if it requires a lot of force then your compression is fine, it if just slides down then you need to pack out the O-ring and cylinder head with PTFE tape.

If the hop-up rubber is torn you can lose fps there too, check that and replace it. Infact just replace it anyway, get a Guarder clear hop, well worth the money.
Also is the air nozzle or cylinder drilled? If it is get a new one, bear in mind though that you'll also need a new spring if you do have to replace it.

Don't bother with a silent cylinder head and piston set yet, shim the gearbox, it will make a world of difference, tune the motor too. I wouldn't bother changing the gears in a JG mechbox, they're grand as is, unless you wanna run lipo batteries.

If you want a new motor check out the Guarder M120, loads of people I know swear by it, that or get a TM EG1000, they're roughly the same price I think.
The gearboxes that allow you to change the spring quickly have a structural weakness at the rear from what I've seen, even then you still have to remove the gearbox from the AEG to change the spring.
    Ger:)

I have a good set up. barrel, hopup has been customized, new shims and bushings.
You are right, my fps problem comes from spring or seal. or both. It was lying for 2 month and probably with compressed spring. and gearbox is the last thing I need to upgrade.

So I take from your advise Install Guarder M120 motor or TM EG1000.

What wrong with silent cylinder heads and piston sets? Do they actually make aeg quieter? What can I expect?
Any recomendations for a good Cylinder sets quality/price?

I've left AEGs lying around for ages with compressed springs and didn't get a drastic drop in fps. But it wouldn't hurt to get a new high quality spring, a Guarder M90 should give you around 310fps if the set up is right, it will also be a lot more consistent.
Silent piston and cylinder heads make the the crack of the piston quieter. Element or Guarder pistons and cylinders are good for the price.
