I'm just wondering if anyone has done, or knows anyone who has done, the master course, MA (advanced language skills [french or german or italian or spanish], in my case Spanish.
I wanted to get some feedback, to see if it's a worthwhile course, especially considering the price of the fees. I've read the course outline and it seems interesting, but essentially, I want to know if it's useful when it comes to finding a decent job.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards

Just a thought, Ann-Marie - seeing as noone is really forthcoming with any info on this course, why don't you just email the coordinators listed on the PAC website and get the info from the horse's mouth (neigh!)?
As far as I know, most MA courses are not, strictly speaking, vocational (excluding courses run by Sociology/Health Promotion), so it is usually just a stepping stone to something else. Fees are not set by programmes, but by college authorities.
Sorry I can't be any more help, but I hate to see a post left unanswered!

It's probably a bit late for you Anne-Marie but I'd advise anyone considering this course to think again. I was in the German stream in 2006-2007 and it was terrible: poorly organised, very lacking in content; just a heap of c**p basically. I've really struggled to find and keep work as a translator since completing the course. I'm not really in touch with anyone else who did the course the same year as me but I'm guessing not many of them are working as translators as the course provided no preparation whatsoever for the very technical, specialised fields that the professional translator usually finds themselves in. I know there's a course in DCU on translating - might be worth investigating for those with an interest in the area.

Someone recommended contacting the course coordinators for information: I wouldn't advise that on any course as course coordinators have a vested interest in selling their courses - in other words they're biased.

    Anyway, those are my thoughts!

That would be biased feedback from the start... You NEVER request feedback from a course coordinator! Otherwise, you will likely receive an untrue rave review in order to get you to enroll in the course.
