Problem with 2000 Golf (MKIV) 'Warning buzzer'

Hoping someone here might be able to steer me the right way...

My Golf has developed an odd problem the last few days. When I get out of the car with the headlights on, the warning buzzer that has always previously worked now doesn't.

Also, today when I got the 'low fuel' light, there was no warning 'beep' which there always has been in the past.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong, and how much I might be looking at to replace it?

    Cheers,
    brophs

Could be the cold weather, I would start by cleaning down the door seals where the lights on sensor is.

Buzzer comes from the dash insert.

I think it's on the bottom corner of the door.

Cheers, dcma, but what's a dash insert? Can I take it this isn't something a person like myself who is clueless with cars might be able to fix?

Dash insert in your dash panel.. Speedo. All your buzzer comes from that. If two has failed then its def in the panel itself. An option is to remove panel and disconnect the two connectors for couple minutes the reconnect. If no joy then you need new dash insert..ie speedo. Its a complete unit.
