ITV HD - cannot locate

Hi (& Happy New Year)

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I couldn't locate through searching.

I have just got a Sky+ HD box & have followed the guide for adding additional channels (ITV, BBC3, BBC etc)

However, ITV HD (10510) does not appear in my list of channels for the frequency shown in the sticky. Is it possible that the available channels might differ, depending on the make of the box ?

You need to have the new EPG on the sky hd box before you can tune in ITV HD.

This channel is also not broadcasted apart from certain hours of the day but is usually still able to be tuned in.

When I use those settings I get 8 channels listed (last one is just a dash):

No sign of ITV HD (or "10510")

Like I said, have located all the other additional channels no problem. I assume I am on the latest EPG as I only had Sky (+HD) installed last week.

Any ideas?

I was able to find 10510 when scanning using

But it didn't appear in 'Other Channels' after I had added it to the line-up

Gus have you the new EPG or the old?

having had skyHD installed a few weeks ago dosent mean you have the new EPG yet

Gus You can force a software update by unplugging the box,wait a minute then hold the back-up button on the box {NOT THE REMOTE}as you plug it back in.

You will get a black screen with a message updating system software please wait........................... usually less than ten minutes to update{but DONT unplug before that!}

If it just reverts to it's previous state it means Sky have not released the update for Your particulor box yet.

A-ha ! That explains it alright, looks like I'm still on the old EPG. Because I'm a brand new customer, I just assumed I'd be put on the latest version of any software etc. Thanks all for the help.

Gus, what make is your HD STB? If it's a Pace, Thompson or Samsung then a forced software update will install the new EPG for you. If it's am Amstrad then you will have to wait a wee while...

Forced Software Update:

1) Turn box off at the wall socket.
2) Press and hold down the BACK UP button on the top of the set top box itself, (NOT on the remote).
3) Turn box back on at the wall socket while still holding down BACK UP on the box.
4) When all the lights on the box come on and stay on the box has started to update. You can now let go of BACK UP and must wait about 10 minutes or so for the box to load the newest version of the software that is available.

Considering ITV's lack of ability to broadcast anything right, ITV HD is not really worth having really, football the other day was unwatchable as the picture froze, went to blue screen, switched to upscaled SD, lip sync'ed out, bright yellow DOG in the corner. It is a joke.

The quality was good for both the United and Arsenal games yesterday, Saturday's effort was an embarrassment alright.

Paddy - its an Amstrad alright. I can live without the ITV HD, would have been nice for the occasional match that they have "live and exclusive" !!

But the SD picture quality yesterday from ITV W Country (which apparently is broadcast at slightly higher quality that other ITV regions, according to another thread) was fine.

Its a pity and strange that Sky has left the Amstrad boxes till last, before adding the new EPG, but I guess it wont be long before its released as once it has it will enable SKY to start the rollout of HD channels a lot quicker than before.
