    Hi,

Currently, I've got one sky package with a normal sky box (all the channels apart from movies and sports)

I was wondering what the best way to go about upgrading this is, (the cheapest way, rather)

I'm looking to get a Sky + HD box, but also keep the other sky box for a different room?

    cheers,

    Kevin.

If you had upgraded last month to Sky+ HD, it was FREE and only had to pay the €15pm for the HD Channels. It will cost you €49 fort he box and €60 or €30 with Multiroom.

I think Multiroom is back up to €15pm.

Pretty angered, was on the phone to a rep and he told me that it's going to be 49€ for the box, and 69€ installation, I quoted the deal from above and he told me that was only for existing customers.., Not willing to help me at all, I spoke to the manager and she eckoed what he said. I've been a loyal sky customer for a couple of years now, and I'm very dissapointed with the way they handled the call. I'm sure there was something they could do for me, especially the manager. I even proposed the idea of moving to NTL and was told that was okay. great sales team they are. I was willing to pay more every month for sky+hd and sky multiroom and they shot me down, smooth.

I'm offering them sky multiroom subscription + sky hd subscription, as opposed to one sky box and I get a kick in the teeth, maybe it is time to move to NTL.

Hi Kevin, the price you should have been quoted is the price Manutd has given above. To upgrade to HD Multiroom -

    Box - €49
    Install - €30

    Total of €79

I don't who you were speakig to, but on going for multiroom, you get the exact same offer as a new customer on the box and install.

Right, I'm going to ring them back and have a go.

How much should this cost, so I'm 100% sure and don't sound silly.

-Sky + HD Box / Installation
    -Sky box multiroom / Installation

And then how much a month should it cost for

All the packages (apart from sports/movies) / HD subscription / sky multiroom subscription

    cheers,

    Kevin.

    From my understanding,

    http://www.sky.com/portal/site/ireland/products/equipment/multiroom

The multiroom package, If I get SKY + for it, it will cost me 49€ for the box, and €60 setup fee and NO extra subscripition charges? (which brings it to €109)

With the HD package, it's €49 for the box, and setup is €30 with multiroom which brings it to €79

So all in, it will cost €188 for both the sky+ box and sky hd box + installation and

for the packages it should cost €32 for all packages apart from premium + 15€ HD so €47 per month for sub?

HD Upgrade and Relocation of the Standard box, including the HD box itself, should will cost you a total of €79. ( heavily subsidised by Sky )

    Six Mix - €32
    HD sub - €15
    Multi room sub - €15

A total of €62 per month

If I get a Sky+ box for the multiroom, there is no extra monthly subscription charges, correct?

(I made a second post above yours detailing what I think is to be correct)

Ok to upgrade to Sky+ and HD is a total of €278 for an existing customer

    And the same sub -

    Six Mix - €32
    HD sub - €15
    Multi room sub - €15
    ( No sub on Sky+ )

A total of €62 per month

Correct, no sub on Sky+. The deal for €188 ( actually it should be €178 ) for Sky+ and HD is for new customers only.

It looks like I'm being royally screwed for being an existing customer, even though I didn't get a box with this current subscription, I used an old one.

Should I just wait 100 odd days untill my current contract is over, and just end it and restart it again availing of new prices?

You could wait if you wanted to, but on starting all over again make sure you go to Sky Direct and not to a local agent as that agent will be penalised for re-signing a previous customer.

Also, on waiting you might find that the boxes and install might not be as heavily subsidised. An extra €100 for an existing customer is not bad at all ( as the initial box and install was subsidised, but you say you didn't get a new box from Sky, you used your own box ) and €62 per month is really good for what you will end up with. It's all relative I guess and depends on how badly you want the new boxes.

It's completely up to yourself :)

mm, Is there any chance that if I wait till next month, there will be a promo on worth waiting for?

You missed the Free HD box last, it was on during Nov and Dec.
    It's hard to known.

Extremely hard to know unfortunately. Official Agents get the pricing for the following month maybe on the last or second last day of the previous month.

just thought I'd add this, even though it probably won't value the thread

tried to dry the inner with a hairdryer on cold (dog took a pee on the box), and when I plugged it in i was greated with an explosion (well, okay not quite but still a bang) o well, lol.
