There has been a huge amount of litter on the streets around my town lately, all the bins are full and the bottle banks look like a warzone but yet the parking wardens are on duty!

Is everyone (except parking wardens) in the councils on holiday?

Parking wardens work Saturday, afaik councils are closed weekends - no bin collections.

All back to normal by Monday probably.

    Ring them on Monday :D

They will have their usual routes to do on certain days, maybe your area was not done on account of the holidays, weather, etc.

they're employed to do a job, if they can't do it correctly, they best go to france with the rest of the cheese eating surrender monkeys.

Because of their rostering (or lack of) of council workers and road sweepers at a particularly busy time of the year, it almost appears as if rubbish is only meant to appear between 09:30hrs and 16:59hrs, monday-friday excluding bank holidays - the typical working hours of the admin staff.

The place is a filty mess and is making a show of us in front of the many tourists in the country over the festive season.

I, as a taxpayer, and somebody who is sh1t sick of seeing the state of our roads and towns, am not entirely happy with their absence.

That is the problem with this country. The people in charge should realise that some people need to travel even on a Sunday.
