Id imagine Puyol will play right back tonight, with Marquez at centre half with Pique.

    Valdes
    Puyol....Marquez....Pique....Abidal
    .........Busquets...........
    Xavi...............Iniesta
    Pedro.....Ibra.....Henry

Still a strong side, but Villareal are in great form at the moment. Id be delighted with a 1-0, but this fixture generally gives us a lash of goals

The team could have a more familiar look to it tonight as I just read that even though the whole South American contingent were given leave until today that they all returned early except for Messi. Jeffren is also injured since before Xmas.

Valencia have confirmed that Silva is still injured and will not feature tonight. Villa picked up a knock and had to be withdrawn from training yesterday but should be ok to play.

Saying the entire south american contingent is slightly misleading as we are only talking about 2 certain starters in Messi and Alves. Maxwell probably would not be considered for tonight regardless as it is too big a game and he is yet to really impress.

Yeah your really just talking about Messi, Alves, Maxwell and Milito. Alves would be the only one to start considering Messi just arrived back in Barcelona.

Not sure if Marquez was included in that or not.

I would prefer Marquez to start over Chrgy, but as you say, he could well be included in the South Americans. Milito would hardly have been considered either given he has not started a game in almost 2 years.

But like I said originally the squad would have been depleted.

Messi, Alves, Maxwell, Marquez, Keita, Toure, Jeffren and Iniesta only got the all clear yesterday.

Eto'o will not be present at former club Barcelona's parade of the six trophies they won in 2009 which will be held before tonights game.

"I was pleased to receive an invite from my ex-team mates but obviously tomorrow I can't be there because I have to be here with Inter,"

Pretty quiet first have from both sides. David Villa came closest to opening the scoring.

Did Sky have the first 30mins on the red button ?

I saw they were not starting until 5:30pm so switched over to Canal + Liga.

Very poor showing by sky advertising the game as live yet not mentioning the first 30mins were not gonna be shown!

    Alves, Piqué, Puyol, Abidal,
    ........Busquets.......
    ......Xavi, Jonathan,
    Pedro, Henry Ibrahimovic

Looks like one of those nights for Valencia. Though they were lucky to concede a minute ago.

He should feature at some stage.

    Pep said so yesterday.

Sky didnt show the trophy showing.

I just watched it on Spanish tv.

Was just the squad standing on a stage in the centre circle with some fireworks and the 6 trophies. Lasted about 30 seconds! They made a balls of it to. They set off the fireworks before everyone was up on the stage so people started legging it across the field!

Villarreal have had a couple of good chances. Ibra has been pretty poor so far.

    Villarreal deserved that in fairness.

Look dangerous everytime they go forward.

Very harsh, especially seeing as he was superb in the first half imo.

Great challenge by Marcano. Villarreal been very good at the back.

    Puyol cleared off the line...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Ibra should be off.

Villarreal were good for the point.

    Perhaps even deserved more.

Real can draw level on points tomorrow.

Asenjo; Valera, Perea, Domínguez, Antonio López; Assunçao, Raúl García; Reyes, Ibrahima, Simao; Forlán

    Sevilla lineup:
Palop; Konko, Squillaci, Dragutinovic, Fernando Navarro; Jesús Navas, Romaric, Duscher, Perotti; Renato, Negredo.

Good point for Villareal in that match, despite Barca being depleted, a Real win tomorrow now and they'll be on top on goal difference

Nope. Spain works on the head to head record which means Barca stay top regardless of a Real victory. Bolton made the same mistake on Sky also.

100% I am correct as thats how Real won la liga about 2-3 years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Look here at the 06/07 table and see how not just Real but other teams level on points are ahead of certain teams even though they have an inferior goal difference.
