Trying to get Freesat.

    Hello,
    I have a Fortec Star Freesat kit,it has a 46 cm dish.
    I am using a quad-LNB.
I got a loan of a Lacuna satellite finder from a friend and have tried aligning with the Astra 28E satellite, everything seems fine as it says I have a good connection on the Vertical-Low and Horizontal-Low and says Picture quality is about 50%+ on the satellite finder.
When I go to the Fortec FS-4000v2 satellite receiver and choose the ASTRA 2a-b-d and then search for channels I only get mostly German channels and no BBC channels at all.

I have tried aligning with different satellites like ASTRA1 and it works fine, just all foreign channels. I have aligned with several other satellites and the finder said they were ASTRA 28E but when I tuned in the stations it seemed that the satellite I connected with was not ASTRA 28E at all.

    Any suggestions?

Your dish is not aligned correctly, if you are receiving German tv then you are aligned to astra 1 and not astra 2. The problem is that there are very similar transponders so the meter cannot tell the difference. The solution would be to set the meter to a transponder that is unique to astra 2.

No German at all on Astra 2 , so as Tony suggested it's probably Astra 1 you have.

If you can name some of German channels we can tell you with satellite you have.

The meter I have has a setting for Sky 28E,I can get Vertical and Horizontal Low both locked in on the meter but can't get the Vertical and Horizontal High(Meter has 4 signal settings ) to lock on(The meter beeps when it is locked on)

Was just talking with my friend and he said that I might have to raise the height of my dish as I have it mounted on a wall 7 feet high and a roof may be blocking me from locking on with the High settings on the meter.

Some of the foreign channels I was picking up are Sat1,Nick Austria,Vox,MTV Germany and also had RAI 1,an Egyptian channel,Algerian channel and also Cuban TV :)

There were about 700 channels but some were doubles of each other.

feel a little foolish about this.but im getting astra 1 on my dish, its 19 degrees,so to get to astra 2 at 28.2 or so degrees ,does that not mean turning it more to the right of where it is now.thanks,my ladder is wearing out.

If you are standing facing the dish, then push it more to the right as you are looking at it....

You need to move the dish east (i.e. in the direction where the sun rises) but you also need to drop the elevation angle of the dish. If you are able to receive 19E, then the dish is currently too high to receive 28E. Drop it by about 3 degrees.
