Only use it as a gargle/mouth wash in a bit of water and some aromatherapy oils (thyme, sage, teatree are good ones) to disinfect your mouth and throat if you think the infections moving into your throat.
I wouldn't reccomend actually swallowing it it's too hard on the stomach.
Try lots of raw garlic (it works better than just about anything) instead if you want an antibacterial/antiviral, when I'm sick I have toasted mc cambridges bread with olice oil and I rub a clove of garlic into the bread, alternatively thinly slice the garlic and eat it between 2 thick slices of raw apple. The apple neutralizes the flavour of the garlic and it is actually really nice combination. The garlic willl help wipeout the virus in your system.
Avoid processed sugar in all foods (including unsuspecting one like breads etc) like the plague, rest well, keep warm (maybe try a really hot bath followed by wrapping yourself up in lots of warm blankets by the fire to sweat it out a bit) and drink lots of water and herbal tea (thyme, sage, ginger are all good ones when you've got a bug) and try sticking to mainly vegetable soups and lots of fresh fruit for vitamin C. Avoid using fruit juices for vitamin C as they can be a bit high in sugar if you're a bit run down.
