I'm interested in doing TEFL in Thailand and was wondering if anyone could tell me if teachabroadthailand.com is a reputable website to go through? or can anyone suggest where short term TEFL teachers would be needed (any country) as I can only do it for six months!

    Try http://www.i-to-i.com

They have some FAB packages. USIT use them for all their packages

Thanks I've been in contact with i-to-i.com but none of their packages suit thats why I'm considering teachabroadthailand.com but I don't know if its a secure option and you want to know where your putting your money!!!

    Hey Fend,

Honor here from i-to-i - thanks for the recommendation :D

Sorry none of our packages suited Lolly - what in particular was it that you were looking for? Totally agree you need to know where you're putting your money - you might want to try posting on TEFL-specific forums like Dave's ESLCafe and tefl.net to see if anyone has any information about teachabroadthailand (we've never heard of them up in Leeds, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!)

Good luck with getting to Thailand and if you need any advice get in touch!

    hi,

I'm thinking of teaching abroad in thailand also, http://www.TeachAbroadThailand.com is the course that I have been looking at, they seem pretty legit, but love to hear from someone else that has had any experience with them!

I have taught esl in Thailand (Bangkok for 7 years). Most jobs for teaching in Thailand don't require a tefl. However if you really want to get a teaching cert., go ahead. The best website for teaching in Thailand is www.ajarn.com. Go to their jobs section and it will show all the latest jobs available in Thailand. If you need any other help I can help you out. I have a lot of connections with thai based recruiters and can get a decent teaching package in Bangkok.

i took the teach abroad thailand course in Pattaya in August 2010.

The trainer Damian was brilliant and the support staff were great. I had a few issues with my hotel but nothing to write home about.

I would say take the accredited package and book your own accommodation which will be a bit cheaper in Pattaya. In fact pattaya isn't the best location so you might want to look at Samui or Phuket

TAT also got me a job and I'm teaching in japan now. Big change from Thailand but i'm enjoying it so much. :p

I say go for it. Damo, leon and jane have been superb. I cant recommend them highly enough. :D
