How soon should you apply for scholarships?

The sooner the better, I imagine, but is there any consensus on a cut-off point or when it's advised to apply? I'm planning to do a masters in September, possibly abroad.

It really depends on the institution / grant authority rules. But as a general rule the window for many is March/April to May/June. Best to check out the appropriate websites.
