Ok it is too early but come one the Hitman back in the WWE as guest host of RAW :D

    and now no Cena
John Cena announced on ESPN this morning that he will in fact miss next week's edition of WWE Raw because he will be in Arizona conducting the coin toss for The Fiesta Bowl. The game starts at 8pm, which would make it impossible for Cena to make it to Dayton, OH in time for Raw. There is a possibility he could appear live via satellite, but that doesn't seem likely as WWE has booked Bret Hart for the show which should provide enough star power.

also Jerishow V DX for tag titles

Never saw Bret wrestle or do promos but his legacy is still here 12 years later for a reason..... it's a long time since i was looking forward to RAW so much, so lets hope it delivers....

According to F4WOnline.com, you can expect Rob Van Dam on the big TNA Impact three-hour special this coming Monday night, January 4th head-to-head with WWE RAW.

Some people where suggesting that they didnt promote the Rumble on the last Raw but I must say they did a good job of promoting this Raw. not only is Bret back as GM but also we have 2 high profile rematches from TLC already announced. Orton vs Kofi to finally finish their issues (im sure they will still has some issues/interaction leading towards the Rumble) and Jerishow vs DX, where if Jerishow dont win Jericho will have to leave Raw for good.

One of the most interesting things in my mind is how storyline wise they will take it from Bret being a 1 time GM to Bret staying on air for the next 4 months.

Are they in Canada at all before mania? surely they have to have Bret back on home soil atleast once

It's probably been about 4-5 years since I've been in anyway excited about a RAW and about 3 years since I've actually planned to watch a RAW.

    Going to be immense.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭JP Liz

Anyone else think Bret maybe might cost DX their titles and so Jericho can stay on RAW :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,284 ✭✭✭Gerard.C

I think somehow Shawn will end up in the rumble, and win and get his match with Taker at mania. If it's for a title, it can go on last like it should have last year. He'll probably ask Bret to make the match or something, so for two weeks in a row he'll have been rejected his match mwith Taker, and will then have to earn it at the Rumble. That's what I think is in store anyway

    New tag champs tomorrow night??
The Hart Dynasty — David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd and Natalya — have been called to appear on tomorrow night's Raw in Dayton, Ohio, reports f4wonline.com. They will likely take part in the angle surrounding Bret Hart's return to World Wrestling Entertainment.

The trio were left off this past Friday's episode of SmackDown as their six-person mixed tag match against Slam Master J, Jimmy Wang Yang and Maria was cut from the broadcast due to time constraints.

I can still remember staying up the night of the 97 Survivor Series, seems like an age ago now. Should be a great Raw, even if only for the nostalgia :D

Never seen such excitement in the Pro-Wrestling forum. If this is carried over elsewhere then Raw's American rating should be very big indeed.

In addition, I really enjoyed Orton/Kofi at TLC so if they give them a decent amount of time, that could be another strong match.

I can't wait for Raw tonight

I am so excited about this.

I dont post here too often. I havent watched wrestling in years - it was not too long after the invasion angle that I stopped watching, around the time when NWO started appearing in WWE (not that it had anything to do with it, it was just around that time!). Bret Hart was my childhood hero growing up, I absolutely adored him. I never understood the Montreal Screwjob until some time later, I wasnt aware how big of a deal it was and what had truly happened. To meet Bret last year in Dublin was a huge deal for me. But anyway, like I said, I cannot wait for the show tonight.

What do people think the viewing figures will be like? I know a lot of people who have stopped watching wrestling will be tuning back in tonight - is there a chance that Raw's viewing figures record will be broken? Not too sure how that works anyway.

    8 hours and counting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Driver 8

As excited as we are, it'll be depressing if it becomes apparent that large swathes of the younger audience don't really react as much as you'd expect, but what can you do? Maybe if Raw were in Calgary or Toronto instead...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,801 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

I think as heard a year or two ago when Shawn Michaels played the music to antagonise the crowd, their reaction was still unbelievable. A lot of my friends who watch wrestling only since the last few years know who he is. I think this is probably the best angle/night in wrestling for many years now.

I do get the feeling, even a small one that we'll see that Bret Hart midget tonight trying to parody him, before the man himself arrives.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Driver 8

To be fair, didn't Shawn play the music in Montreal? You only have to say Bret's name in Canada to get a decent pop. Hopefully he'll get the reaction he deserves tonight either way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,801 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Yeah I forgot about that actually, that it was in Canada!

Still, as you said, I hope he gets the reaction he deserves. Hell, Hulk Hogan still gets a pop from kids, so hopefully the Hitman will.

Same as yourself! Never knew so many of the soccer forum regulars hang around here - think I saw Slick Ric posting aswell! Hope the regulars dont mind us coming in. Who knows what tonight will bring, I havent seen wrestling for years so I have no idea what the production value, story lines, even the talent is like today. WWE has a big chance to re-capture a lot fans who have since strayed from the brand in the last few years, and you get the feeling that everybody will have to be at the top of their game tonight.
