I'm looking for some advice for my grand-aunt. She's looking to buy a laptop to keep in touch with family in the U.S. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on what would be her best options. It has to be bought off an Irish website and be able to deliver to Dublin.

Budget: I think her budget would need to stay below €500. €600 tops.

Intended use: She will mainly use it for emails, internet, built in camera would be good too, word processing, some pictures but not a huge amount.

Mobility: I don't think a netbook or a small screen is an option. So a medium sized screen. I don't think the weigh matters too much as she would not be bringing it around with her.

Warranty: If there was a warranty for a year I'm sure that would be fine.

What Operating System do you use? It would be easier if it was a Windows.

I saw on another thread on here the laptop below and wondering would that fit all the requirements above?

    Thanks!

I'm hearing great things about Toshiba, and that seems to fit the bill, as you outlined, especially as it has built in web cam and a 1yr guarantee is pretty much standard these days. Might be worth considering taking out an extended warranty for a few bob extra, for peace of mind for your grand-aunt.
