Odd Light over Galway last night

    Did anyone see the odd light last night over Galway?. It seemed to be up pretty high to me but there was no noise even though the night was very calm and clear. It travelled through about 120 degrees in about 3-4 mins. I was looking south and it was coming from east to west high in the sky over the city at almost bang on 12 midnight, I know the time because I had gone out side to wish the neighbors a happy new year, as you do. It seemed to have a white flashing light and a red continuous light. I thought this strange as, if it was travelling from my left to right, the right wing nav light would have been green, but there was no sign of any green. If the red light was on the belly of the aircraft it should have been flashing. I saw it again about half an hour later coming back over the city again. I suppose it could have been one of those chinese lanterns that had got very high up but I have seen them before and it didn't look like one of those and they don't travel that fast particularly as there was hardly any wind last night, and also they don't circle round and come back again. Strange sighting!

    Yeah, it travelled over my house three times, and in the same path each time. As vulcan said, it was around midnight but it lasted until half past. At first, when it was a good distance away it looked like a planet but within five minutes it was over my house. It circled three times and then disappeared.

    i saw something odd last night, but not what you are explaining. it was around 1230am. i looked out the window before bed and saw what looked like a really bright star or planet. i noticed it blinking all different colors. red, blue, green etc... and when i looked at it for a while i noticed 4 beams coming out of it. the beams were probably just from me staring at the light too long. the only thing i can think of was maybe it was a dying star? ive never seen one nor did i hear anything about one being visible. i took some pics and a video of it. wondering if anyone else noticed it?

    Fire it up on youtube mate. I always see strange things in the sky but put them down as airplanes etc.....
