xBox or PS3?

I'm buying myself a few things to bachelor up my house and I'm up in the air about whether to get a PS3 or an xBox 360 to go with my soon to be big tv

Suggestions?

I know normally this would be in the Gaming section but I was wondering what the After hours* people thought of it all?

PS3 for the BluRay player, and it's better controllers.. The xBox ones feel totally alien to me

Yep.. it'll play most types of video files. Even movies directly from a USB stick

i have both consoles but i rarely use the xbox so if i were you id get the ps3

Well if you have bucket loads of dvds and not interested in changing to bluray anytime soon go for the 360.Have a PS3 and 360 and i play the 360 more got a good deal in Hmv when i was buying it too.

PS3 I think it much a better choice then Xbox, it's free to play online (isn't it?). Xbox is just throwing things into it "it can cook eggs, watch digital TV, transform into a hair-dryer". Also I heard Xbox tends to break easier then PS3.

I also have both but I tend to use the Xbox a lot more than the Playstation. For multi-format games I almost always opt for the Xbox version, but that may just be personal preference as I prefer Xbox Live to PSN, and I much prefer the Xbox controller. PS3 is more of a Blu-ray player than a games console in my house, although if it had more exclusives like Uncharted 2 then that would soon change!

Do you plan on playing online at all, OP?

I love the owl Xbox or PS3 argument .

PS3:For the BlueRay,Access to an internet search engine,A sort of music youtube type of thing that can be downloaded on the Playstation Store for free called Vidzone ,if you have the patience to wait you can download games for free and you don't play a subscription to play online.
Having said that the Xbox is easier to connect to a broadband modem,none of this NAT bull****,Xbox has more games and the console is cheaper then the PS3.

For reference, GTA 4 is also available on the king of consoles, (Xbox)

Also, you get Crackdown, and soon, Crackdown 2. Mucho fun.

There is nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that is more than annoying than a console fanboy.
OP, buy whichever one has the greatest number of games you think you'd like on it.
If it's relatively similar then buy the cheapest one.

GTA IV? really? I thought it was a tone down from GTA San Andreas, of course I guess I was expecting everything from that games and the new stuff in the new game but still, GTASA>GTAIV

This is true.

I got my Xbox because there was more on it I liked. And I had a PS3 in the house for over 2 months, and I played Uncharted for about a week, and didn't switch it on after that.

I just like winding up the PS3 amigos.

I've got both. OH plays the Xbox more and I prefer the PS3, better controls IMHO.

Just buy both. Most games are out for both consoles and the PS3 has the added benefit of a blue-ray and free online gaming. 360 is cheaper and the games are cheaper.

OP its really depends on which of the brand's exclusive games that your interested in tbh and for me the Xbox wins that round hands down.

Crackdown 2? Oh my, Crackdown is the most fun I've had with a game in years, that's a deal breaker right there!

I was pricing them, xbox with used game for 150, ps3 with used game 250

Get a PS3 because it looks a bit like the front of the car from Knight Rider.

That said tho I would recommend you get a girlfriend instead of a console. Then you can stick your PS3 in her XBOX for fun (or better still WII on her if she's into the kinky stuff).

Xbox, in my opinion.

If you want a bluray player, buy a bluray player....and for a lot cheaper

With Xbox 360 you have great choice of games, some brilliant ones that are Xbox only, a much better online experience and a better controller (whoever brought that up, the Xbox is one of the best I've used in a long time!)

While online isn't free with Xbox, any user who has tried both will tell you that Xbox Live is way ahead of PSN. I thought I wouldn't be interested in Live but have a go with Call of Duty or Halo series and see what you think...

Lastly, the Red Ring of Death that occurs on the Xbox does happen, more so with the older models, it did to mine; but many, many PS3s fail and the difference is, Microsoft will replace your console with the extended warranty, while Sony, most of the time, won't!

Different games work better on one or the other imo, Street fighter on the XBOX is ****, much better with the PS3 controller (unless you want to buy a special controller for largely one game), Im biased because I have an XBOX, but I think the online service on XBOX is great, poxy that you gotta pay for it though.
I would love a PS3 for its blueray drive, tbh , if I didnt have either I think I would be happy with whichever one I got.

Ps3 is far superior imo, i have played on both alot.

Ps3 does everything the xbox can do and play's blu ray, also my friend has had to replace his xbox 3 times as it always breaks down, the xbox doesnt appear to like playing games or being switched on it seems :P

The xbox360 is a piece of crap in comparison if ya ask me, go Playstation
