G&G have yet to let me down!

Oh God, not this again, find what works well for you.
    I like ICS BB's in 0.25.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

LOL, its amazing, that the bb is the most important part of airsoft and yet we never discuss them at all, rather its the latest tan accessory!

G&G are good all right, I use the .25g ones in my main gun, and .2's in pistols.

I used to use excel but no-one sells 'em any more, but the g&g's get better performance due to a slightly better barrel seal any way.

Ye could have the best aeg in Ireland, aka, my aks74, and if you put in rubbish bb's ye'll get rubbish performance, and I'll murder ye!

Ye gotta have good bb's man!

What good are BBs with out a gun, unless you want some stealthy kills...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭mcshape

feel a bit stoopid asking this being an "experienced" skirmisher!, But... IM GONNA ASK ANYWAY!!! :D

If im using an AEG thats shooting at about 300FPS with .20's, Is the improvment in using G&G .25's worth the drop in FPS?, Or will there even be a significant drop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

yes there will be a drop in fps but as everyone should know fps is not everything,, you will still be getting the same joule output

the bb will travel a little bit slower but you will find accuracy has improved, 0.05 of a gram does not sound much but when you consider it as a 25% increase in weight between a .20g and a.25g its massive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

    You'll also get better range.

swings and roundabouts tbh, depends so much on the set up of the barrel/hop up its hard to give across the board answer there

from personal experience i have sometimes lost terminal range (the point at which the bb its the ground is shot level ) but the effective range (being able to shot level and hit the target ) because less effected by wind and more stable, but you will get some many different answers to this question its scary

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

Longest range I get is with .25's in my experience.

Ok but is that calculation if a Joule not based on FPS? So if FPS Drops, So does the Joule Output?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

a joule is a measure of energy, if you firing 300 with .20g and then shoot .25g the fps will lower to say 280 but that is still a joule of energy, the problem comes when people think that fps is the measure of a joule and the magic 328 figure that is throw around, people set up an aeg with .25 and shooting 325 for example, this would be in fact be over a joule but many believe because it is under 328fps it is bellow a joule

the joule output is energy and is calculated using two things the weight of the projectile and the speed of the projectile in question, with both of these you work out its joule ( energy output )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

I posted up a list of various BB weights and velocities at one joule a while ago, I'll dig it up for you.
    0.20g - 328fps - 1 joule
    0.23g - 306fps - 1 joule
    0.25g - 294fps - 1 joule
    0.28g - 278fps - 1 joule
    0.30g - 268fps - 1 joule
    0.33g - 256fps - 1 joule

as said before the joule output is a measure of energy not the speed at which something hits you so brick could hit you at a joule but it would be going extremely slow;)

    0.28 work well with me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭mcshape

Thanks Puding et All, Very clear explanation, Im sure you guys are exhausted telling people like me the same thing over and over and over

very slow building brick about 2 fps if you dropped it, it would move faster than that :)

not the best table but you get the idea fps_joules.jpg

not really i would rather explain something 1000s of time than the constant environment of miss information carry on within airsoft at times

Excel never let me down and i'v read good good reviews about it compared to other brands,
but raptors seems to be the more prefered or populor choice these days! =)

Using Raptors is like using a cheap condom, its gonna let you down when you need it most.

i love excel .25s, nice and cheap
one thing i noticed when i tried blaster .28s in my g18c was the loading ramp got quite worn down when i started using them in it(only bbs i had at the time) so, unless it was something else i wouldnt wanna go over .25s in a gbb without a metal loading ramp

out of curiousity why do you say this?

1: They are horribly inconsistent in weight.
2: From what I've seen many have cracks and bubbles.
3: They jam in every gun I own
And now for the typical Lefty response:
    4: They come from MIA.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

Their cheap chinese BBs with a branded sticker slapped on them, consistency is poor and in most decent guns (and thats clones these days too) you'll find they may feed a few, jam, feed a few more etc etc.

BBs are the most important part of your kit and skimping on them can result in gear/piston/hopup failure no matter what gun your using. Defo stick to good brands.,:)

advice taken lefty and masada =)
never thought they were supose to be that bad, seems alot are using them is all and havnt heard any complaints about them till now tbh!

    Word of advice.

We know you dont like MIA and you had trouble with them, but when your just repeating and repeating yourself and harpering over and over, to be honest it just makes anything you have to say pretty un meaningful.

And what would you know about condoms lols :D

Our team has started using Snow Wolf BB's which can be purchased in the Dundalk airsoft shop. Snow Wold BB's are the store's own brand BB's. They come from the exact same factory as the raptor BB's but are considerably cheaper. Cheers to Victor, Paul and Mark for bringing us great quality goods at very reasonable prices! :)

    oh noes!
How much is a bag or bottle or whatever? I'd be wary about using cheap BB's, especially from what I've seen...

bb's carved from orphans teeth are best.

The trick is to make em orphans afterwards, you get some kids teeth, get them to carve them under threat of losing their parents.

I find the fear and tears gives me +5fps on average, +10 feet range and reduces hit ignoring by 12.3%.

    Order now!
