I am finding it hard tor un on some days as the roads and paths are either full of black ice or white ice, and it all wants to get me:mad:

So looking at the forecast it looks like the gym for me.

So plan is 5 boring miles on a threadmill, some swimming but weights should you do in the gym?

Also is it worth buying a set of small weights for the arms?
Mr's wont let me by a set of weights :D

I know how you feel about running outside. Yesterday is the first day that it wasnt icy or snowy outside. Have been running on the treadmill but that isnt really a great option for long runs. My snowman is still sitting out the front of my house and he is there a week. He is a bit smaller but not much.Getting into a bit of a panic as I have a marathon in 7 weeks and havent managed to run more than 10 miles in over 3 weeks. I had hoped to get a lot in over the holidays.
MInus 9 forecast for tonight so doesnt look good for tomorrow either.
    All ideas welcome.

I wouldnt bother buying weights. YOu can more than use your bodyweight in creative ways , that works much better an is cheaper.
Best of luck for you in 2010 .

Find a forest with good tree cover and a trail, and there's a good chance it won't have much snow/ice. I covered 16 miles doing a 1.25 mile loop at the weekend, in -10'C. Cold, but grand once you wore a few layers.

I avoid treadmills if possible. I have ran on them before in lieu of running outside if in a dodgy city safety wise when away with work. I find them quite boring as most people probably do and while they are better than doing nothing I don't feel I work half as hard on a treadmill compared to outdoors.

Head to your local park and run on grass if that's an option.

the local park i think will be my option during day time but from monday i am back working after the xmas break so cant run in there.

Will use the gym and mess about with some weights. Is there any weights in the gym i should concentrate on in this bad weather, even though its only for a week so no real difference it will make.

Afraid there are no woods near me and no parks either. Getting in a panic now as I got talked into going to Seville after all and now I cant get any decent training in. Mileage is exceedingly low the last two weeks and not sure what to do with only 6 and a half weeks to go. Is it too late to catch up and get some sort of preparation in? it is 3 and a half weeks since my last marathon but havent done more than a 12 M and a handful of 5's since.
Mite drive to a beach and do laps of that?
