    Hello all!
My question is in regards to a paper guillotine-
I have been eyeing up this one -
    HQ CM30 A3 Paper/Card Guillotine Cutter/Cutting Machine
    hqcm30-1.jpg

and am basically just wondering does anyone have any experience using guillotines? I am definetly leaning more towards the level blade than the slide blades as it just seems like it would be much more durable.

The kind of questions I have at the moment are in regards to the blade, as in is s there an issue with blunting of the blades very quickly, are they easy enough to replace, can you just sharpen them etc.

Is there any one in particular you could recommend or that you have had good experience with (i.e good smooth crisp professional cuts at a low price)

    Thank you!

Hi there, I am a bookbinder, use guillotines allot, much larger than what you are looking at, there are 3 main places that sharpen guillo blades; Flanagans, Staffords, and blade runner. Personally I prefer Staffords. How long your blade will last will depend on how thick the paper is your cutting and how many sheets at a time. You can get replacement blades too through the 3 places I mentioned.

I have one similar to the pic but have hardly used it as I find it too much trouble. It does depend on what you need it for, but if you need it for very accurate work you should get the very best one you can afford. Mine was around 30 -40 euro and its not really much use. Admittedly I had been used to using one of those huge, fabulously accurate printer's guillotines :D

Have a look on ebay, there is an Irish supplier of small finishing equipment on there, paticularly, small, table top stuff, such as guillotines or drills or punches.

I've bought office machines off of hunt office before and was very happy with a desktop guillotine that I got there for approx €130. They have a fairly wide range of paper guillotines there dependent on your budget, and they ship free if you spend over 50 quid or along those lines.

    Hi guys,

My name is Eoghan and I have a paper guillotine for sale. It is called a polar mohr 115. Unfortunately it is not working at the moment but I think the parts may be worth something....For example it comes with a brand new blade still in the box as well as the blade already in the machine (second hand).........Could anyone advise me on this or point me in the right direction please??? Thanks,

    Eoghan ;)
