Im 21 years old. About 6ft tall and a year ago i weighed about 14 and a half stone. yesterday i weighed my self for the first time in a year and was mortified when it came up as 16 stone and 1 pound. is this overweight with regards to my height?

i havent done any excersise for about a year so this weight is not muscle. its certainly making me worry as i used to play rugby at a good leval and i weighed 16 stone in muscle. and now its 16 in fat. any suggesstions as to what i should do?

Get up off your ass and go to the gym, running cycling.......

At 21 it very easy to loose the weight, if you put in a bit if effort with diet you can easily and safely be down to 14 stone by the end of March.

Oh come on now you know what you should do!
Start running, gyming, swimming, cycling whatever. Cut out the crap food and cut back on the beer. You used to be fit so you know the drill. Find some reason internally to motivate yourself that you want to be fitter and healthier and stop looking for internet people to provide you with that motivation ;)

Yes 16st if all fat is overweight and go look in the mirror, you know you're overweight cos I'm your height and I was your weight.

Stop eating **** and most will drop off, convert whats left to sexiness by gymming it. As said above at 21 you can drop weight easily with a little dedication.

If it was 16 stone with a lot of muscle, you'd know about it, cos you'd be an absolute animal.

You are not only overweight, but you are obese.

Your current BMI is 30.5 which puts you in the obese category.

You need to rapidly change your lifestyle if you want to lose the weight. Change you diet so that you are only eating 1500 cal a day, and make sure you space out those calories over 5-6 meals. Cut out all saturated fats, sugars and refined carbohydrates.

Make sure you eat a least three bowls of vegetables a day, and no carbs after 6pm. Drink plenty of water. for you height and weight I would say maybe 5 lts a day.

You need to tone up again and start exercising, get out and run at the very least 20 mins a day.

Lose alcohol and sugary drinks, including juices. As I said before water all the way, add a drop of lemon juice if you need flavour.

Curb your sweet cravings with fruit and sugar free chewing gum.

You may think I'm exaggerating here, but you could easily lose 3 stone in a 2 to 3 months. If you do this you will be barely at healthy weight.

Realistically you need to make a lifestyle change, cut out the things that cause you to put on weight.

And to anyone reading this, remember it's very easy to lose weight. You just need to get up off you ass and start today.

Hi, I was so skinny until i hit 20 then i started piling on the pounds and I've yoyo'd since then.
Basically, once you're not a teen anymore you will have a larger physique, and if you don't exercise and watch what you eat you will struggle with your weight.
supposedly it gets even worse when you're 30 so it's best to get into a good habit now.

Ye used to play rugby, you know what you have to do. Excersise, do weights and stop eating crap, theres no miracle cure, if you don't want to be overweight you gotta look after yourself

You're 180cm and 100 kg that is indeed about 30 on the bmi index.

But keeping in mind the following:
that it is the Christmas season
with this cold weather it is normal to gain extra weight as 'insulation' and by the fact it is more difficult to do excercise.

Also while you've crept above the 30 mark on the bmi, I wouldn't panic. I would myself concentrate on being more active, food can still be enjoyed in moderation (alcohol and rich food will always cause problems!).

    Le Meas.
