Make sure magnet is aligned correctly on the crank arm

give the reset button a go and check that the sensor is detecting the pedal magnet as well as the one on the spokes, vague memories of it flashing a different colour for each magnet, sometimes the sensor can get a knock when being put in or out of the shed or when on the bike rack.

Follow the setup instructions for the sensor (flashing lights, magnet position etc.).

If you're sure all that is done properly then the sensor may be faulty.

Those cadence sensors are bloody finicky, you may have a faulty unit, so you might want to try and get a replacement while its still under warranty if these tips dont work.

As said before, magnet alignment is critical. Hit the reset button on the sensor and make sure it goes red when the crank passes, if it doesn't go red, you wont get a reading.

Replace the battery on the sensor ( and make sure the crank magnet is not in front of the sensor when not in use, some swear this drains the battery)

Delete the Cadence sensor from the 705 menu and add it back in again.

Make sure the 705 has the latest updates installed.

Take the sensor off, remove the rubber strip on the bottom and check the casing for any cracks, it can easily crack if you try to adjust its position after you tighten the tie wraps. Seal any cracks with some silicon, and also put some grease on the O ring of the arm, dry the sensor thoroughly with a hair dryer before sealing. Water will make this thing work and fail intermittently and drive you crazy.....I KNOW !!!!

If the head unit says it is detected that means the sensor is "alive" in some regard and the connection between sensor and head unit is working. So it is down then to the sensor picking up the magnet.

Easiest way to check the sensor is to take a magnet and holding it your hand rub it up and down the line on the sensor. Check for the red flashes and see if cadence comes up on the head unit. Remember the little arm is meant to face the wheel for speed while the sensor for the cadence is in the body of the sensor, I have seen people put it on the wrong way around before thinking the arm is for the cadence, easy mistake to make.

I have several of the cadence sensors and +1 they are fiddly; I have certainly had one fail (must get that sorted.)
