    Thoughts and observations so far....

    - The same old rent-a-panellists;
    - Will Leahy about to ask people how long is their commute any second now;

Oh, and Lorraine Keane came dressed as a Ferrero Rocher.

It's terrible and oh so slightly embarrassing. Will Leahy is an awful presenter. Cringe.

Have to agree. Always the same people on. I'm still in shock at the list of "comedies" that RTE produced this year. You could add this to the list..

And ffs who doesnt know that Keane's dog is Triggs. He's more famous than Lassie.

Apparently Pat Kenny taught him his reading from autocue technique.

The above statement may or may not be true

Dreadful, I switched to Blades of Glory on RTE2 :D

The Big fat Quiz of the Year is on Friday though, should be great this year

I thought it was the Breffmeister, I was disappointed to find out the truth.:(

Humour about E-Voting and Bertie's bank account. Groundbreaking stuff.
Lorraine Keane came dressed as a Ferrero Rocher
lol. It certainly seems that Lorraine and Aoibhinn were given different briefs about the dress code, if yuo forgive the pun.

Yeah, shame there's no Noel Fielding this year! :(

    Still, Charlie Brooker! :D

    The stick insects doll!

Flicked on and watched for 10 minutes, was hoping/expecting something decent, usually ****e from RTE, switched off. Why can they not get the quiz format right. These people trying to be funny copying the big fat quiz is just sad. Get people from "The Panel" if they want that type of show not Pat Spillane!

Who the hell is Will Leahy ?
    A DJ
who is girl in red ?
Aoibheann Ni Shuilleabhain, ex rose of Tralee, and currently Tubridy's girlfriend.

Amazing how they are getting so many of those easy questions wrong.

    They're both superb..

Charlie Brooker is far from crap to be honest. Read some of his articles from The Guardian, watch the TV series he wrote last year 'Dead Set' or 'Screenwipe'.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 71 ✭✭Mr sinister

Dead set wasn't great and he was a terrible host on that tv show thing on channel 4

Other than that panel show he did last year.. he's generally very consistent!

Anyways... probably best not to derail this further.

Didnt think it was too bad,but they kept talking over each other which was very annoying.
Whose on big fat quiz of the year this year? It wasnt that good last year but the two years with Russel Brand and Noel Fielding were great!

    Ross and Russell Brand

    David Mitchell
    Rob Brydon
    Charlie Brooker

Some girl whose name I can't remember :o

I think Rob and David will be paired up.

Its an absolute disgrace, like most shows RTE attempts to make. No wit, no intelligence, not even a good old fashioned pun. Nothing but weasal words, embarressing displays of Irish dullardism and complete and utter nonse. Give me QI any day.

QUIZ SHOW: The Big Fat Quiz of The Year 2009
    On: Channel 4 (104)
Date: Friday 1st January 2010 (starting in 2 days)
Time: 21:05 to 23:10 (2 hours and 5 minutes long)

Why was Christian Bale so angry in January? What made NASA so happy in December? And which scandal prompted President Obama to call Kanye West a "jackass" in September? The biggest, fattest and funniest quiz of the year returns to Channel 4 with a stellar line-up including David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker, Claudia Winkleman, Rob Brydon, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross. Jimmy Carr does the quizzing, Peter Andre drops in for a surprise visit and as usual there's a glittering host of A-listers popping up to ask questions about the years events.

A good enough reason not to remember her name I guess.

Thats a fantastic line up,I think it will be the best yet.
It really annoys me though how they always put the balndest women in Britain as the token female guest. Theres some realy funny female presenters and comedians in the UK ,why dont they invite them on instead of Claudia whatsername and Cat Deely. Why cant they get Marina Hyde or someone like that on?

I cant wait to see Charlie Brookers face when Peter Andre pops by for a chat :)

I can't wait to see the inevitable "Sachsgate" reference.. it was toward the end of 2008, but Ross came back to the BBC after suspension in early 2009.

Plus, put Brand and Ross on the same team.. and it's fairly inevitable that reference will be made.

This yoke's on again now. Is it worth watching? That Spillane chap is hard to listen to.

    Orange pilled.

Pretty abysmal alright. Void of humour, but then again none of the contestants are comedians we must remember that. Having said that your average Irish comedian wouldn't be any better on the show I am sure. Pat Spillane gives me ire.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭Black Magic

Meanwhile over on Channel 4 TBFQOTY is repeated.

It wasn't as bad as I expected actually. And it wasn't supposed to be funny, was it? :)

I think it was, although the host swiftly moved away from any opportunity to make a joke. Surely just by watching tapes of QI, Buzzcocks, HIGNFY, Mock the week, etc., RTÉ could pick up a vague idea of what a comedy quiz is supposed to be.
