Advice on injured knee

    Hi Folks,

I need some advice. I have a marathon at the end of April however everytime I hit about 10-20k in training my knee just gives way to this really bad pain. This only ever happens over a long distant as I train regularly doing short sprints and endurance training and there is never any problem.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this knee pain asap so I can get down to some serious marathon training?

    thanks

Expect this thread to be closed shortly as the mods don't like you talking about injuries, for some reason. If you have the cash, get yourself along to a decent fizz.

Could be a case of runners knee and if it is physiotherapy and foam rolling should do the trick.

I had a similiar problem in my knee (the Miniscus- to be exact) when doing training for an IM.

Everytime i hit 20k the knee gave way and I could not run on it. Turns out that it was down to too much volume i.e. I was well over the 10% rule.

Took my time with increaseing the volume and hey presto the knee came good. Used sports massage and roller lots....

    Hope this helps.

I am interested in what you have to say about foam rolling and Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome or Chondromalacia Patellae. If someone was afflicted with this injury what muscle groups should they foam roll.
