    Hi itsallgood,

it's a very good idea to learn your skills in Irish water before heading abroad.

Conditions can be more difficult, by way of visibility and temperature. Once you can master basic skills and are comfortable with Irish conditions, I think you'll enjoy diving abroad that much more as you'll be more confident with most things that may arise.

I have goin out with Ocean Divers and found them sound. They usually train midweek in the national aquatic centre which is a great introduction training ground. 5m deep pool to get used to equipment etc.

    oceandivers.ie is their site

suppose that all depends on whether you want to dive in Ireland or just abroad..

agree with Cipher that training in Ireland will help you cope with the local conditions better when you continue with local diving...
If you only want to dive on your holidays, you might save you the pain from training in dublin bay... its certainly "easier" to get started in warm tropical waters with lots of viz and marine life.
