There is a Sticky at the top of the page which will give you lots of advice. Have a read there & then come back with more specific questions.

Not being rude but what you have asked is similar to going onto a Motor Forum with "I want to buy a car, which one?" Many people have a lot of Brand Loyalty & will advise to get what they have themselves. So ... do some research to find out what features are improtant to the type of photography which will interest you. If it's just general then any of the entry level DSLR's will be fine, but you really need to look at the whole system & see if it will support you as your needs grow. The three bug systems are Nikon, Canon & recently Sony. All those have entry level models. The choice then becomes which lenses, flashes & other accessories you require.

For 300 euro id get a Nikon d50 body on ebay and a couple lenses. It is older than the current d40/d60 models but it has an auto focus motor so you can use the vast array of nikon lenses which would all have manual focus on the d40 and d60.

I'd try get a brand new olympus E420 online for about €250 and pick up the standard 14-42 lens on ebay second hand, or get a deal with the lens for €300

I've ordered from these guys before, great service http://photoagora.gr/olympus-e-420-kit-14-42mm.html?&sl=EN

Body and lens new for €279
